View Full Version : This 'touched' me today -
I'm not sure why - it just did - so I'm sharing it with you:
“And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:6-10 NIV)

I agree Ferg. I've always been touched by that. We have already been raised up!!! A gift!!!! And we are God's workmanship too! Wow!
Ferg, thanks for sharing that verse, what I can't get over is Why me, when I look around and see all the pain and hurt this world has to offer, who am I . Psalm 139 says GOD saw my unformed body, all the days ordained for me
were written in his book before one came to be and yes by Grace, Gods
riches at Christ's exspence, through faith in Christ alone and all I can say
is thankyou Lord.

This is a great verse when one starts to think "Lord why you did you save me"? The answer is "in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace". Yep, he saves us just so he can show off his grace!

This is one of the most difficult things to believe that no matter what you do and how straight you walk that line that with out Christ as your savior all is lost.
In this all will be saved and not by works alone but in the full faith of Jesus Christ as our savior.
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16)

This is one of my life scriptures. I struggled for a long time with my walk with God. I always felt like a failure when I failed Him. So I would quit trying. Then I read a book by Chuck Smith titled "Why Grace Changes Things...". It changed my life by changing my walk. It's not what I do that makes me right with God, but the gift Christ made with His life that makes me acceptable to God. I do not have to earn it, its a free gift. I usually try and complicate things, but this verse is simple and profound. I never get tired of hearing and reading it. Thanks Ferg

Sometime's we forget how fortunate we really are.
We get to go out and spend time doing things we enjoy like; hunting and fishing. Often we take it for granted, I read a post in here saying "why me? when there is so much suffering in this world".
That post is exactly what I think about before I go to sleep just about each night, why am I so fortunate??
The Lord asks for us to give of ourselves and I will be the first one to admit I do not give enough, but after reading this thread I am going to get back on track and give more of myself.
I am not sure where to post this, but I have an idea, that we as M-S.com member can participate in all around the state. Lets put something together for a day here or a day there where we can take those less fortunate fishing or hunting, maybe like one day ice fishing, one day one the lake. Those of us that have the equipment lets share some with those that don't.
Ice fishing may be out for me in to do this beacuse I may be in Gremany for a while, but I bought a small boat last year and I can 3 people fishing comfortably.
What do you think??

Ice fishing may be out for me in to do this because I may be in Germany for a while, but I bought a small boat last year and I can 3 people fishing comfortably.

I think that is a great idea. Maybe it could coincide with the Michigan Free Fishing weekend(s)? I know there are a lot of places that have pre-planned activities, but I don't know of any that are specifically trying to help those less fortunate.
I don't know how organized you are looking to make it, or if you are just putting out an idea for others to do this individually. But, I think if there was a get-together at a specific lake/river with maybe a Boys & Girls Club or church that would be interested in sending/transporting people out, it could definitely work.
I really like this idea and might try to do something like this with some of the local churches in my area...
Are we allowed to have "official" M-S outings?
wcalcaterra - if you are looking to set something up, I would start a new thread and see if anyone is interested as well. Either way, good idea!

I was thinking we as M-S Members could put something together, I have no problem headding it up or tying to organize it and I think free fishing weekend is great.
I thought that those of us who can offer up our equipment can take people out fishing, whether it be Children, Senior Citizens, or those that cannot afford to do it on their own. I want to give some of my time and I really think this is a great way to do it.
I can start a post this week and see who is interested we can get a head count of those committed and I (and others that want to) can contact our churches to get something going.
