Is it just me, or are the m-s avatars getting out of hand? I'd rather not have to look at some hot chicks while reading hunting posts. Ideas/comments?

I don't see a problem as long as they are not "dirty". I think the mod's do a good job of watching stuff.

If you see one that you think is bad, shoot Steve or one of the mods a pm.

is something the mod staff pays VERY close attention to - signatures as well - I do believe that maybe this needs to be discussed some more by the mods - If you see one that is offensive - and I don't think 'reels' would fall into that catagory - please use the report a post feature and mention the avitar -

There are only a hand full of moderators on this site compaired to the number of users - we can ee every post every day - just not going to happen -

But, rest assured we watch those two items pretty close, to the point were if there is a question - we'll pull the picture in for discussion and replace the avitar with something else and send a PM to the member -

Just to be clear here, I'd like to explain my reason for this thread - and – state that I'm not singling out a specific user. I have just noticed a trend over the past month or so. Some might question why I would even care so here's the skinny:

For anyone who professes Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior (i.e me), they are required to "be holy as I am holy" 1 Peter 1:16. I will be the first to admit this is a very difficult thing to do, with all the bombardments for the media and the likes. Temptations already exists on every front and it’s a constant battle to even make an honest attempt.

I look at M-S as a small haven – a place to get away from these temptations and just focus on hunting, chatting, and learning from the members here. If I'm going to start seeing hotties on here; that now makes my safe retreat to M-S a new battle ground as opposed to a safe zone.

I think there are temptations everywhere, we as christians have to overcome temptation. That being said, when you see hot girls as avatars, you should not see the hotness of them, but rather look at them as human beings. Maybe that doesn't make sense? I guess just don't look at them as sex objects, don't give in to your temptation. I can see where you are are comming from fdunford, but if others want to let there avatars get them all hot and bothered so be it, you should rise above and ignore that feeling. M-S is a great website with alot of good info and good members, I wouldn't let a few pretty girls as avatars deter you from being a member on here.

As a donating member of the Michigan Sportsmen my thoughts are just as long as it does not become something that kids should not view. They see bikinis at the beach. Not any I have seen on here so it is not that bad.

Its just all on how you look at them, its all on your beliefs too. I know some who would look at those girls and not have lust in there heart, others may want to do very graphic things to them. If it offends you, just don't look. I could get into a pretty deep conversation about this very thing but I do not want to push my beliefs on people, nor do people want my beliefs pushed on them. Live and let live.

hmmmmmmmmm....... let us be the judge of that !
Well we could go by what Jesus says in the bible about it.Matthew 5:27-28 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. This only applys of course to those of us who are married. Although we are only human and God knows this, we are born with sin and will die with sin. Our only hope for redemption is to repent for our sins and mean it in your whole heart that you are sorry for your sins, hope that god is a forgiving god like the bible says. Now this does not mean you can go out and do what ever you want to do and repent for it later. But if you know what you have done is truly wrong and you need forgiveness for it than god will forgive you. If you live your life knowing wrong from right then I feel god will reconise(sp) that and forgive you when you do wrong. Remember God love all of us, but do all of us love God? Thats what you have to ask yourself at the end of the day. Ok sorry for the sermon, but thats just how I feel about it.

Fred - I'm sorry about your thread being moved to sound off - I'm not sure which mod did it - but I dropped a note to all of them asking to leave it here.

I didn't move it the other day because I believe you have a serious concern on this issue and I didn't want those that don't feel like you, or at least aren't on board with the Lord to toss bombs at it - just like they did - I deleted those posts - because I don't think some of those people would ever even visit this forum -

With that said - I do think that for the most part - most of the truely offensive avitars have been taken care of -

and as I said before - please bring to our attention an others that you feel deserve a look - and we'll do just that -

thanks

No need to aplogize - it wasn't posted in sound off - it was posted in the sportsman of faith forum - it got 'moved' to sound off - so I moved it back - you are free to comment all you like - but as was stated in the sticky at the top of this forum - we are not going to have 'Lord Debates' in here - only faith based discussions and prayer and support - for those that are 'on board with the Lord' :)

:)

Also, one can simply go to your user cp, click on edit options, then check OFF the show avatar button. I know that doesnt keep anyone else from posting them but it does allow you not to see them should you make that choice.

I'm new to this site, and really can't believe they have a forum for believers!! In a world where Lord our God is never mentioned, this site takes a stand, a chance, the ability to let us all have a place to fit. I have read the avatar discussions, and understand the concern. I am single and don't have a problem with a pair of sisters who are very beautiful, and sexy obviously. Thats as far as I took it. Of course I understand that not all singles treat things the same way, and I also have a daughter and sister who would make close matches to these two. Thank God we have mod's who do there best to decide the good or bad for this site. I believe they have done a great job for what I've seen.

That way you still have your safe haven without taking away the beliefs of another....and we do all have our own beliefs on certain issues. Great post Hunter.

Matthew 5:10-12 :"Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you." .

I think that hunters suggestion makes the most sense.

Beyond that I would only advise everyone to live your conscience ,and leave others to theirs.

"Holy Moly" i didnt think that this would get this far, but i understand others beliefs and respect them.. And i also believe in the Lord but there is a "fine line" where you have to draw the line...

Were all on here for 1 thing and only 1 thing is to converse with others of the sport that we all like to do. And i understand fdunford what your doing "but" were all here having fun and communicating with each other and i respect your beliefs, however if you dont like what you see i'm sorry i'll change my avatar for you if it will make things better for ya, but i dont see where my pic is a problem!

By far i dont quote from the BIBLE but i dont see nothing wrong with who does....

Unfortunately there are no "safe havens" in the world.
The bigger the safe haven the harder satan is going to work to penetrate.
I agree avatars need to be kept in check but also realize that if Jesus would have fell to tempation in the desert it would not have been satans fault it would have been his own.

I agree with a few things said. First, if you do not like some of the avatars you can turn them off. I am a dedicated believer, but I do not expect others to adhere to my standards. Because I fall so short of them myself. I tend to not try and convict others of their actions, that is the Holy Spirits job. I pray for God to change their hearts, and then the Holy Spirit gets them to change. If it is a fellow believer then we do have some authority to say something. But, we will never win non-believer's to Christ if we start by handing them our commandment list that we on a daily basis break. Let's act in love and win them with the love and grace of Christ.

We try to keep them within reason but can't satisfy everyone. It would be similar to walking by a bunch a girlie mags in the party store.

I say if you guys want those avatars then use em. I think everyone needs to express themselves there own way and I'm cool with that, and I think god is too. I personally don't find them offensive at all, and like whats been stated before, if you don't like them then turn them off, or just don't look at them. I'm not on anyone's side here in the matter, but I think theres a happy medium for all there.

I 'lost' my feeling for what we are/were going to do in this forum - this will not be a place for others to be a "moral compass" for others -

But rather a place for prayers and well wishes not debate -

There is a way to turn avitars off in your user profile -

This subject is done.

Thanks
