Well I picked up my Fish Trap Pro at GM tonight. I got it all together except for screwing the canopy on. It's just too late to be getting out the power tools:D I'll do that tomorrow. I really how big and roomy it is. Unfortunately the $300 price tag aint so nice. I sure hope it's worth it.

That is a fine piece of equipment in your arsenal. And you have some great lakes by you. Good Fishing.

Dude you are going to love that thing. I think it is the best investment you could ever make if you are going to ice fish next to a vex. Last year they cancelled my daughters school due to cold temps/windchill. So I took my daughter out icefishing in the trap with the mr buddy heater. It was nice and toasty in there. Had a great time too.

Hmm, this scares me. I just bought a FT Yukon and there was alot of assymble. I built it in my garage and it seemed like the bar sat flat on the floor when I put the black molding on the canvas and then I put the screws in for the last step. I am going to have to double check it now.

Don't sweat it too much. It should just be touching the ground. I carry a collapseable snow shovel to pile snow around my shanty on the outside. The weight of the snow pulls it tought.
I've got my eye on a guide over at Knutson's for $340 when I get the scratch together and unload my old Shapell. Can't wait!

I had the same problem when a buddy assembled the trap for me. I had to remove all the screws, and extend the bars first, as far as they go, then stretch the canvas to the back, & reattach the screws. Now the front flip bars go all the way down to the ice like they should. :)

I made sure not to go too tight. It seems perfect the way it is. Man I've been messing with it and it's awesome. So easy to set up and take down. I just wish the doors was a little taller...

I have one and I think you will really like it, not too heavy and easy to move around.

That's a great price but I'll probably end up going with Knutson's. Cabela's has them for $350, Basspro for $380, Knutson's $340. Knutson's is my favorite fishing/bait shop so if a locally owned and operated place can beat the big boys (even if they can't), that's good enough for me. That is a great price, though.

Over Thanksgiving Gander Mtn. had them for 299. I would love to get a bigger one, but the Guide is too heavy to pull by hand. You probably won't be able to find it that cheap until after Christmas or if there are any left at the end of the year. Plus it never hurts to help the little guy.
why does Gander Mountain have such a terrible website? One of the reason I don't shop there is because I can't check the prices before I go. Maybe they pass the savings of not paying web developers on to their Clam customers:D

The top flips back & forth so fast to get in and out, you will forget about the doors.:D

i dont think gander is allowed to sell anything online. i heard they sold all their rights to do that forever. weird huh? just what i heard.
congratulations on getting your trap. if you pull by hand a lot i suggest replacing the stock rope with a longer one. makes pulling easier.
