With the rain this morning, my buckwheat should be perking up quiote a bit! Here's what it looked like back in early June....

i planted my buckwheat the first week of july and we got about 1/2" of rain the day after planting, since then not a drop, but it is holding on, the cool weather has helped, hopefully we got some rain out there last night and today. my corn and sorghum desperately need rain!

Man, mine really took off both up north and down south. Chest high in places where the deer haven’t nipped at it. I posted a photo a while back with my piebald / radio-collared buddy, here’s another, he gets lost in the stuff now. The recent heavy rains have actually knocked it down in spots.
Both plots will get tilled under soon to prep soil and act as a nurse crop for fall plantings. Hope everyone shares similar success!

That is some nice looking buckwheat. I planted quite about three acres of it around my property up north in May and the deer have kept it mowed down to about 3" or pulled it out by the roots where the soil is light. I am also getting ready to till it in for some plantings in August. I haven't seen a lot of deer but there must be quite a few to keep it that short.
