Gone, I have a 300 also but mine is a 4 wheel drive and I still put the chains on. If we get snow drifts or slush on the lakes it's a no go even with four wheel drive and no chains. A stuck four wheeler is a real pain to deal with at times.

I have a honda 300 two wheel drive that I have used chains on for years. It does a good job.

I Have A 2wd And Use Chains - It Won't Go Through Quite As Much As 4wd Rigs, But It's Close. Being A 2wd/250 It Is Probably Easier To Get "unstuck" Than Larger 4wd Rigs. If You Go With The Chains, Make Sure You Bungie The Outside Of The Wheel (i Think I Have A Pic In My Gallery) To Keep The Chains Tight, Otherwise They'll Either Beat Your Fenders Up Or Fall Off.

maybe i should reword that question. how much snow can you thru on ice with tire chains and 2 wheel drive. this machine without chains gets stuck in 4 inches in the driveway.

I too have a Honda 300. My dad has exactly the same machine. At first when he got his he went with chains that didn't have the "v bars" in them. I had the "v's" there is alot of difference (we fish together alot and our ATV's are run side by side to the same place). If you get chains make sure and get the vbar style. This year I have upgraded to a 4wd, I am still considering chains at least on the front.

i'd sell it.they hold there price good so won't be a problem.buy a 4 wheeler.
the taller the better for snow. i put studs in my tires.same ones they put in motor cycles for ice racing.i used the 1/2 inch studs and they have been in 2 years with no problems.(a little hard on cement floors) i pulld out 2 different guys that put their 4 wheelers threw last year and hardly spun the tires.one guy hit a unmarked shanty hole and was all the way in and the other dropped his rear wheels in a pressue crac at the launch at fletchers
i have a honda 500 rubican and i can go anywhere with it as long as the snow isn't toooooo deep

I have a 450 honda 4 wheel drive, put chains on all 4 wheels. Some people say you should not put them on the front tires. I say BULL****! I had my back tires go thru the ice. If I didn't have chains on the front my atv would have ended up at the bottom of the lake. Never been stuck and have pull out an s-10 truck out of the snow. Buy a 4 wheel drive ATV and chains on all 4 tires and you won't have to worry.
