Anyone interested in having some small ice tournaments this year? I'm thinking something along the lines of $20 per person, pay out 100% to 5th place. Does someone already do this? No wierd power trips allowed, or giant EGO's. 1 person in charge of each tournament, thier say final, doesn't need to be me. Keep it simple.

Sounds good to me. As long as I don't have to drive more than an hour or so.

I'd like to stay in se mi but make a few trips north or canada every year. some lakes would be kensington, devils, the waterloo lakes, independance, ford, have access to a 30 acre private lake, but couldnt take a huge crew. Could also hit the coldwater lake chain. Would be open to 2 day tournement also.
I'm pretty open, used to do this with my buddies when I was younger. If only three guys and thier friends wanted to go it could still be a good time.

I'd be in depending on the location, could even do a mini "tour" with a season champion. Something like Wamplers of Devils for panfish, St. Clair or Sag Bay for perch, maybe throw in a walleye and a pike event?
Do points for each event and then crown the MS Champ?

but gets away from my initial thought of simplicity. My idea is more like, were gonna fish lake A at this time. 20 bucks each, gills are the target, pay out to 5th place. :)

I'll be doing my tournament on Lake Fenton again this year... Be the 3rd annual one. Gonna get a few sponcors to. I have a thread about it... Last years turn out was pretty good but not to many fish caught... Kinda makes the lake a good tourny lake because it really makes you work for it!
If you have any questions about it, PM me.

That would work for most. My initial thoughts are whitmore lake or one of the waterloo lakes. Maybe the second or third weekend of Jan if we have ice? I know whitmore has decent perch and pike, not sure about gills. Waterloo definately has gills and some pike, some crappie.
May want to consider 10 bucks for pike, and 10 bucks for perch/crappie/gills. How do you want the measurements to be? Length or weight? Or just payout for the top 5 biggest panfish, and top 5 pike, (if were fishing for pike)? I dont really care how its done, have a portable scale if needed. Let me know your thoughts. If 20 bucks is too much then lets make it 10, keep the focus on fun and fellowship:) Kids can be free or cheaper if you agree.
thanks

Either lake sounds good to me, i'm leaning toward whitmore tho, but it will depend on conditions and if anyone gives us scouting reports, it really doesn't matter. entry fee seems right too, leangth/weight or both sound good to me. doesnt matter, you make the rules i'll just follow them.

for most of the people that are interested is ok with me. None of us want to drive 2 hrs most likely. I havent fished whitmore in a few years, seems like the access was on the north west corner and had limited parking from what i remember. Theres another small lake over there called independance (I think) that had a lot of pike when we fished it a few years ago. Most of the lakes by me are iced over, if the temps hold we could be fishing in a few weeks.

I'm holding a Tourny on Tamarack lake in Lakeview on the 2nd if anyone is interested:http://www.michigan-sportsman.com/forum/showthread.php?t=213925
Also whoever is putting on your tournies, remember you need to get a permit if you are planning on weighing in at the public access.
