Used a string loop for the first time this whole season. Have been shooting better than ever height wise but left to right has been erratic. Well I did some experimenting shooting with my own release and borrowing a torque free (360 pivoting head) tru-ball release. I took shots off the D-loop and off the string from 25 yds. I am a right handed shooter. Here are the results:
Off the string both releases grouped very tight 3 inches to the left of the bullseye.
My standard release off the D-loop was erratic, mostly anywhere from dead on to 4 inches right. Seemed like if I tried to correct the natural torquing action of my wrist when I would draw back, the arrow would go to the right.
Torque free release off the D-loop grouped very tight 3 inches right of bulls eye.
Broadheads (montecs and blazers) are grouping as good as field tips using my ordinary release off the D-loop. Did not test the broadheads off the string or with torque free release yet.
I plan on buying a torque free release and re-adjusting my sights slightly and I think my problem is solved. Do the above results make any sense? Do they indicate a significant problem with my set-up? I noticed with my release off the D-loop I get some torque when I draw back. When I try to neutrilize it by turning my wrist the arrows seem to drift a liitle to the right. Any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated? I'm looking at buying "The Judge" release from TRU Flight. Anyone tried it?
