I just joined this group. I am taking my first trip to the UP Sept/Oct. I am also a novice fly fisher. I will be staying in the Porkies. Would appreciate tips on fishing the immediate area. This could help offset my version of casting and my idea of trout flies. Thanks, John.

Although I have never spent considerable time fishing in the UP I do know that the time of year that you picked is a good one.
There should be King, Coho, a couple of steelies and the Pink Salmon in rivers that get a migratory run. The Brookies should be in spawning color also. I know that the Carp and the Two-Hearted rivers get good runs of these species. That's about all the info I can give ya ! Sorry
