Speaking from experience, make sure you check it out very well. Bad things can happen with worn strings, cables and Limbs. It does not matter how old it is, things can still be wrong. Could have even been dry-fired before you purchased it. I noticed a little creaking from my bow a couple weeks ago so I took it into a shop. Ended up being a "Hard to see" cracked limb that was probably caused by a full draw cable break last season. A limb to the face would probably leave a mark!!!!! Most bow companies will send you new limbs at no charge. Mine are on the way from Martin.

Same thing happened to me over the summer. Pulled back to full draw and heard a strange creaking sound . Examined the limbs and could not find anything. Shot it a few more times then checked them again and found a small split where my top limb wheel mounts.

I had a Whsper creek that creaked . It turned out to be a limb pocket issue .

I had a Reflex Timberwolf that had a creaky limb pocket. I reduced the draw weight a few pounds and the noise went away. I talked with some bow technicians about it after that and they told me that the limb pockets probably needed to be looked at and lubricated. I ended up selling the bow (I of course told the person I sold it to to get it looked at.)

Let us know what you finally find out, I'm curious.

I have also found that it can be caused by the cable gaurd. A little wax build up on the rod will cause this? Something to check anyways.

A few years back my bow started making a really crazy noise when I shot it. Of course this happened just days before October 1st. I took it into Jay's in Gaylord and they found that my limbs had come untightened. It ended up being that I had purchased under spined arrows. Big lesson learned. Jay's was able to tighten everything up and get me back in shape for the opener.

Let's seewhat KD says, but in my experience bows would creek when the cams were in need of some lubrication.

These are both simple solutions that I would start with. I have a Hoyt that would creek just before I got to full draw, a little lubrication around the cams and the creek was gone. ;)

Hoyt told KD to tear it apart and lube everything on it. so well see if that fixes it. Mike at KD said he doubts that will fix it but well see.
