If I only use my recurve every 4-5 days,is it okay to leave it strung or am I harming the bow?

"Can I leave it strung?" That question has about as many opinions as "What is the Best Bird Dog?" Of course the answer to the latter is MINE :D. And that is kinda the way it is with leaving a Bow strung for extended periods. Some Archers feel that if left strung, the limbs will take a set. In some ways I believe they are correct. Older bows with high wood composition, especially when exposed to some heat (like left in the trunk of a car) might take a set. I don't believe the newer composite bows will be as easily affected. On the other hand, when using a stringer, it's very easy to string and un-string a bow. Why would you need to leave it strung? I have Self-bows and a composite Recurve and I string and un-string them as I use them, I just don't want to take the chance of damaging them. My .02 FRANK

I use an early 90s Bear Takedown Hunter. I leave it strung all season. I have a case that allows it to be cased strung. Pulls the same as it did new

Some bowyers, e.g. Bob Lee, recommend you leave a modern fiberglass backed bow strung if you're going to be shooting it fairly regularly. More bows are damaged (twisted) during stringing and unstringing than any other time. On the other hand self bows (all wood) should be unstrung immediately after use to prevent string follow.
