Not sure where to post this, but...

Does anyone know of some Sportsmans clubs or Rod/Gun clubs in the greater Lansing area?

I'm interested in joining one, but don't know of any in the area.

Thanks in advance!

I see your in St. Johns.

Capitol City Rifle Club comes to mind. Nice place, nice people, and inexpensive to join.

Capitol Area Sportsman Club...Off Canal rd...actually it change's names...If your coming from the south on canal rd .heading North...after you pass willow...through our new and wonderfuly expensive round about... where the road curves to the right just go straight down the dirt road...after you go through the curve the road changes names into River Drive..if your coming from Grand river...by the airport... you need to take Ingersol rd. south to Delta river dr. turn right go 1 block and turn left on webster go over the bridge and turn right onto River rd. uphill to the curve..go straight onto the dirt rd...They have a new gate there and you need a code to get in..here is their web address....www.micasl.org....

Ive shot at the Capital City Rifle club in williamston. They let us come out with our Fish and Wildlife club from MSU and blow off some free rounds. Its in Williamston if i remember right. The seem to have a nice setup overall and lots of range space

As a past president of the Capitol Area Sportsman's Club I can recommend it. It has an indoor pistol range, trap, skeet, sporting clays, an indoor archery building, an ourdoor archery range, a walk through archery course and both outdoor rifle and pistol ranges.

It has been around since 1935.

Capital area sportsman club.
Hit me up with a p.m. if you want the nickel tour of the place. I am about 10 minutes from there.

So Capitol Area Sportsmans Club seems to be the place.

How are the people there? I'm younger (25) and I'm wondering about the ages and friendlyness of the guys there?

Let me know how it is. I live in Grand Ledge and I have been looking for a range. Did you here about MSU's 3.5 million dollar shooting facility they are building? It is supposed to have indoor ranges for both archery/firearms. They are going to hold air gun competitions as well as having the ability for long distance high power ranges. Hope it works out.

age?? Across the board, Seems the older crowd is into the trap and sporting clays (lots of experienced shooters willing to give great advice), younger crowd around the archery building. (just my observation). Never met a bad member and there is something for everyone there.
Prices are great for membership.
Lots of activities going on and if you like to shoot archery the indoor range is a great +, Winter leagues , summer 3-d leagues, Competitive shoots , etc...

Like I said p.m. me and I will give you the tour. or p.m. me your phone # and I will call you with info and answers.

once you are a member if you put in at least 10 hours of volunteer time your dues drop to $45.00 annually. Now you can't beat that!

Did a search for this and came across this thread.

Maybe someone in the know can shoot me a PM.

I have a college aged son, would we both need to get memberships for shooting on the ranges? For skeet/trap I assume we would pay the member rate for myself and non-member for him?

Also, is it possible to bring a guest. I have another older son who visits from time to time and usually brings a gun or two.

Thanks for all the help. Looks like a great place.

In the Mid Michigan area we have Capitol Area (gun and bow), Thorny Acres in Elsie (bow), Looking Glass in Laingsburg (gun and bow) and Chief Okemos in Diamondale (gun and bow).

I didn't post this, but I am asking about the Capital Area Sportsman's League in my questions above.

Guests are welcome. As a member you can participate in all activities. If you shoot in an archery league I think there is a small fee.

I used to walk through the sporting clays course before deer hunting season to practice my stalking skills and there were some monster bucks on the property and I'll bet there still are.
