Do any of you weigh your coons? I started weiging mine this year. Got my first 20 pound coon (20.5lbs) 11/14/. I know there are a lot bigger than that out there...who's COON is the biggest. The guy at J&K said he's seen a couple of coons that go 40?! WOW!

I have been waiting for this topic to come up. Back in September while bear hunting for the first time a coon came to the bait that I swear was 50 lbs. As he was walking into the bait I could see his ears over the top of the logs that were set up over the bait and thought it was a color phase bear cub. He climbed up on the bait pile and had no trouble moving the 8 inch logs out of the way to get to the bear bait. He was an absolue beauty. His face was very wide and chunky and grey in color and looked just like a picture. His body was like a pumpkin. I wanted to take him for a mount but I do not know the regs relating to coons. I am sure he was some sort of record. I have seen at least a dozen since and nothing looks remotely like him.

Trapper_Max,
Yeh, I bet twice as big. His entire head and most of his body, except for his mask which was real thin, was about the color of the forearms of the coon in your picture. His head was about the size of the body on your coon. He must have been real old. That coon was the highlight of my bear hunt and I even got a bear. The fact that I did not shoot him is haunting me. I have been hunting for 25 years, never coon but I see them all the time, and this would have been one of those kills where I really would not have cared if I ever took another animal again. Sounds crazy over a freekin coon but it was that rare of an animal.

Slammer, I'd be booking a trapping trip about now if I were you. 50lbs would really be something. And to be honest with you Slammer, I know exactly why you got excited by a coon. A couple years ago while driving around while working midnights, I came across an albino coon. I got permission from the landowner and caught him in about 7 trap checks. Pretty exciting.
22 and 28lbs aint bad either.

He is up in Trout Creek. I would gladly take a day to show somebody exactly where I saw him.

I got a 21 pounder this morning and yesterday I got a 19.5 pounder. Them two being my biggest ever since I've only been a traper for about three weeks now. That brings me to five coons and one red fox that I got last weekend. I would like to say a quick thanks to everyone on this forum for the wealth of info I've read! I'm doing good with the bucket set and dirthole set.
