So I might be going up to Tawas this weekend to see some of my fam and I was wondering if anyone could help me out with some public places to fish some of the rivers up there.. I will be targeting walleye/perch/pike but basically anything that will hit a jig.
Would go after whitefish/salmon but I don't really have the tackle and know-how and I don't wanna deal with the crowds so much, although I know there are going to be a lot of people up north for the weekend..

I'm not looking for any holes, just some public places I can access the tawas and au sable rivers and walk up and down them..

Thanks much.

My best suggestion would be to try the public access at the mouth of the AuSable River just before you cross the U.S. 23 bridge. Plenty of species of fish at the mouth and usually alot of room to move around. Either fish on the rocks or down at the end of the South pier. Good Luck.

Thanks I will def. have to try that.. also I was looking on Google Earth it looks like there are two public access sites on the au sable.. one if you go west on river road from oscoda it will be 2-3 miles? on your right.. looks like maybe a boat/canoe launch site. I figured I'd go check that out.. but the spot I REALLY wanna hit is what looks like a public-access at the foot of a dam on the river.. prolly 5-7 miles upstream from oscoda? it's off of Rae road..
I'll probably spend most of my time downtown though.. although I'm gonna be afraid that there might be some cute girls around and they'll see me looking like a fool all dressed up warm and stumbling around. I'm like dorf goes fishing. Seriously. :D
