On Nov. 11th I shot a spike horn with a bow. I missed him twice because I hit tree limbs. Got him on the 3rd shot and he dropped after 10 yards. On Nov. 16th I shot a 7 pointer with a rifle. He has a 16.5 inch spread. He came in to a scrape that I had peed on the day before. I got to watch him paw, lick, scrape & rub on that area before taking the shot. Anyone interested in buying my pee????? ;) Here are some pictures...

I would also like to say although I saw where he fell. I still went to the point of impact and tracked him to where he fell. I was actually surprised by the lack of a blood trail and had a hard time tracking him. But it made great practice and would recommend the same to others. It was about a 60 yard trail.

Great job on the buck. Now, as for it being risky peeing in his scrape, don't worry about it. My son and I have been doing it for years;). It really ticks them off :rant:. We have had bucks really tear up the area after doing this. We no longer buy any of the buck scents to use in the scrapes. Many a buck have been harvested this way over our years of hunting. Again great job!

After some experimentation over the past couple of years I'm not sure if it is a "risky move". The most used mock scrape that I made this year was one that I "activated" by urinating into it and doing so 2-3 times a week.

Congrats on the deer! Yes, I agree with tracking deer, even when you see them go down, since it's great practice. Did it this year myself. Man, just can't bring myself to urinate in scrapes or anywhere need my stand. Lot of guys on this site have good experience doing this but after going to great pains to reduce my human scent it seems counter productive to pee in the woods. Maybe next year....

Congrats on a nice deer. Most people think I am crazy but I pee out of my tree stand and have had deer come up to the base of my tree to smell it with their noses to the ground. They have even come to investigate the noise.

Try creating a series of mock scrapes in an area that you are NOT hunting, but can keep tabs on with some ease. The key ingredients in making a mock scrape are:
An overhanging branch that is 4-5 feet off the ground.
Bare, level ground spot that is free of grass or weeds.
An area where deer pass by on a regular basis. lI prefer edges.

Pee in the scrape and keep checking on it.

Yea but Whit with all the prune juice you drink and muffins you eat your urine must have a very strange oder that the deer just can not resist.
