I have heard and watched some videos of people pheasant hunting with flu flu arrows. What is the reason for using those arrows? I know nothing about them. Thanks.

The wide and high feather or wrapped feather privides LOTS of resistance. The arrows are very difficult to shoot over 25-30 yards-by design. The opposite are flight arrows. They were made with a double tapered shaft and verry little feather. They are for shooting 100 yards or more. Most archers have never shot either.

I am an avid recurve bow hunter and shoot a 60lb Black Widow PMA III bow. I have shot flu-flu arrows ever since I began to shoot a recurve. I use them for all sorts of things, I always keep one in my quiver when I am hunting to shoot at small game, squirrels, grouse that sort of thing. They are really nice to shoot because they slow down and fall really fast, which makes them easy to find when shooting at elevated or flying targets. We often shoot at foam disks that we throw in the air to one another, this is quite enjoyable in the winter when there is nothing much to hunt. I make my flu-flu arrows using 6 feathers that are full length and not burned to shape. They work very nicely or Cabela's often sells flu-flu arrows made by carbon express which are also very nice.

those were the days back in the 60's for me.:yikes: we used to take them into picture woods near henry ford high school and shoot squirrles and every once in a while i would get lucky and shoot at a pheasant. those flu flu's had a great impact with the blunt tip and killed very well (hard to get stuck in a tree also). they had a kill distance out to about 25 yards and then they slowed way down and just fell like a rock. we would get a few guys in the area together and throw those frizzbies and shot at them ( and then get our asses chewed out for destroying them by our parents):help::rant: i would make them at starlight archery with wood shafts back in the days when my dad worked part time for CHARLIE AND MARILYN those are two people who will be missed for a long long time to come!:(
