Posted this in MI Hunting but then thought the response might be better here. Thanks.

Curious if anyone has a "Home away from home" when they are deer hunting. Recently visited a friend who uses his kids tree house on his 40 acres. It has a bunk bed in it and is really cool. He says he sometimes runs an extension cord and brews coffee in the morning. Well I realize this is a little extreme it made me think that there are probably some real neat blinds that people have built.

My uncle would like to build a blind this spring, as he is getting older and would like a little protection from the elements. Any ideas, links, thoughts, would be greatly appreciated. Pics would be helpful too. I would like to build him a nice place that he wants to visit often. Thanks.

Have looked at the pre-built ones but thought it would be fun to have a more personal touch by building it myself.

I have seen some pretty lush "deer blinds" before. Built most of them for customers. Had one with gas heat, electric, double pane windows, again home away from home! I'll see if I can dig up some pics!

About 6 years ago, my buddy and I wanted to build some blinds so we checked out a couple of Amish guys that build and deliver them. They had a few different kinds on display, so we checked them out and I had a camera phone and a tape measure with me. But we got good ideas for doors and windows for bow and gun. They turned out really nice. We put in some shelves and carpeted them to keep out the cold and noise. We also put in a pee hole so we don't have to get out, and a couple of hooks to hang extra clothes.

Really good ideas. I appreciate the insight. Somebody suggested using magnets around plexiglass for easy on/off removal so not to spook deer. Really appreciate the help to stir up the creative thoughts.

Hey Bio,

I tried looking for the pics of the "homes" I have built and can't seem to locate them yet. I'll keep trying! Happy Thanksgiving.

My cousins father-in-law had a bad back and could not take the cold so he built a solar heater for his blind, put the panel on top and run the pipes down the back so he could lean against it and the tank under his seat, I sat in it over Christmas 10 degrees outside warm as toast inside.
