Had a bit of free time yesterday afternoon so I headed over to the joe to try my new rig. Found me a little spot with no one else around to try her out. After quite a few attempts at distance casting, and getting hung up on every thing, I decided the roll cast worked the best for me. At least I think thats what I was doing. I would let the line tail out and then lift and swing the rod tip up river and make a roll and shoot it straight out. Whatever kind of cast it was, it was the only way I could cast with all the tree branches along the bank. After about three hours I even started getting good at it. Well, I thought I was getting good at it. I'm sure to others it was obvious I was a novice.
Oh as for catching anything, well, other than the tree branches, no I didn't. But thats okay, it felt good just using my new rod :)
The river was a bit low and very clear.
