When I decided to start bow hunting in 1980 I went to Anderson Archery in Grand Ledge where Tom Nelson set me up. Having a short draw the only bow that would work was a PSE Junior with a max 65lb pull. Took it home and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Back I went, Tom set me up with a release, and peep site. With some practice I started clanking arrows together. I still didn't like the sight pins setup and back I went again. Tom showed me a new gadget out called a pendelum sight that let gravity do the work for you. Twentyseven years later and well over 50 deer the setup still performs like new. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!!! Thanks alot Tom.

When you find a tree like this in September located 20 yards behind a territorial scrape on the edge you know you have been dealt a winning hand. The trick becomes how to make it payout.

Thru the years I learned that going into woods in the dark with a flash light spooked the hell out of any deer you may bump and they ran far away. When I started entering my hunting spots as soon as I could see without a light, I noticed that the bump deer would only move off a short distance and many times was able to connect on the deer I bump as they started moving around. This morning that little tactic paid off.

Staying up way too late celebrating a friends birthday found me putting a extra scoop of coffee in the pot at 6 am. When i saw the wind was blowing out of the south, a front was just an hour or two away, I knew it was time to place my bet. As I slowly slipped my way down the north edge of the woods/cornfield trying to enter the woods thru a small depression/drainage to the stand, at the very spot stood a deer. All I could see was the shape and antlers and knew I was busted. We stood trying to figure each other out for a minute or two and then a snort and he slowly moved into the woods. Never getting a whiff of me I still had hope. Ten minutes later found me in the stand and 45 minutes later he circled back. Picked my opening, grunted him stopped, and released. The spoils of a winning hand were never better!!!
