i bought some rigs today that i never used spreaders . i see how they work , i mainly fish from shore ,i jus wondering if these are right for me fishing from shore since the weight is above the hooks?any advice would help!:confused:

If you mean the wire type that extends out each side from the attachment point in sort of a half circle configuration, I'm not sure what using a spreader would do for you fishing from shore. That type I have used mainly for fishing from a boat to put two hooks in the fish zone.

I use them fishing from shore. We attach a 1 1/2 to 2 oz. weight one one end. The line goes in the middle of the spreader. A crawler harness or snelled hook to the other end.

It's used in current. Or where you want to be sure your bait is near the bottom.

I have caught bass, perch, bullheads, catfish, suckers, carp etc.
