So Brandon calls me Friday and want's to do a "world tour" this weekend. Of course with the UM/MSU game on Sat. I'm up for Sunday. So today we headed north (that's all I'm gonna say about where we fished!) and hit our first lake just after first light. Brandon managed a couple decent fish on our first lake. The pike was a fat 24 1/2" and the bass was a tick over 16 1/2". Turns out these were the biggest fish of either species we caught all day from any of the three lakes we fished. We did manage to catch fish on all the lakes though... nothing spectacular but it was fun and all fish were released to be caught again. We also hatched an idea for a tournament on one or two or three of these lakes next year... stay tuned for more details.

Over all we had a blast... the weather was pretty good (started to drizzle just a bit as we loaded the boat onto the trailer at the last lake around 6:00 or so). We caught fish, ate some good food in a local town, and managed to stop by SFW1960's house on the way home. What more can a fisherman ask for!!

Thanks for going Mike, had a good time. Already planning on repeat this weekend, since now the only time I can fish lakes far away -during daylight- is on weekends:dizzy:. Came real close to putting a bonafied whoopin' on ya with that spinnerbait!
No grub, no trailer hook, just pure skill :coolgleam.
But that damn dropshot and the back seat (in my own boat!) gave me the el skunko on Lake #3, we got there too late -that lake needs a whole day!

Couldn't ask for better Fall fishing weather, maybe another hour or two of daylight... but practically no wind for a Nov day. Partly sunny/mostly cloudy, very nice.

Not bad for an Autumn's day fishing, all in all. None of those big Fall PIGS boated, but I got hit by one hell of a bass on Lake #2! Hurts to lose fish like that. I think 'world tour' part deux should include that lake for as long as it takes to fish those bomb weedbeds (1hr?). Find green weeds, find fish - for sure. Pike were kinda slow, probably taking the day off, waiting for a 'nice day' like today and tomorrow:lol:.

Be careful going to far north, get far enough and we might get to join in next year. :)

Actually that would be great! We're kinda planning another "tour" for this coming weekend... you and a buddy are more than welcome to drag a boat along with us!

If you ever get near Leroy you ought to fish Rose Lake. Fun Lake to fish, there are a ton of big bass in it. Quite a few Walleye too if you can keep the Bass off long enough to let the Walleye bite. The Campers were hard on it this summer, I figure over 30 Bass 20" and bigger were taken out and eaten.
:(
Still a blast to fish!!!!

Yuck!! I can think of a lot of things I'd rather eat than a 20" bass (or any bass for that matter!). Bark, grass, senkos just to name a few! LOL!!!

The one thing I really liked about fishing Sunday was that we had maps of the lakes we fished... which Brandon had fished before and I had NEVER seen in my life. At the ramp he asked me each time where should we start (based on me looking at the map). What was fun was disecting the maps (which aren't always accurate) and then going to that spot and actually catching fish! We didn't just circumnavigate the lakes... we spot fished based first on where I wanted to go and secondly on Brandon's experience. Great thing was we agreed on nearly every spot.

Really liking the fall fishing this year instead of hunting. ...but I encourage everyone else to remain in their treestands :evilsmile.

Really, an angler can have the lake all to himself an a Saturday or Sunday this time of year. The fishing can be hit or miss, for sure, & the fish can be in 10 different patterns at any given time, but it's trophy fish time, low pressure time, fast fishing time (me like) w/ fish chasing lures to boat, the lakes are very easy to fish-not congested w/weeds, find some green weeds & you've found fish, & the fish hit SO hard it's hard to tell how big it is until you see it (unless it takes your rod from you;)).

And this is my first foray into fall fishing... so far I likey!! Other than having to yank that Ford out of the ramp at the last lake we didn't have to deal with ANY traffic on any of the ramps or lakes.

Sweet. Sounds like fun, I dont like to drive too far if I dont have to. And never having fished this late in fall I dont want to have to spend so much time figuring lake / spots out. So I think I'll just stick to closer lakes. Too bad we dont have more within range that are great for smallies too (Oligotrophic please).
