I have posted with prayer requests in Sound Off before for my Brother-in Law, currently on his second deploymant to Iraq, but he recently sent me some pics and I though I would post them.

He is with the 107th Engineers out of Ishpeming (UP). Thanks again for the thoughts and prayers. Whether you are for or against the war and our Commander in Chief, we all need to support the troops.:coolgleam

Portion of their group (Jackson is the one on the right in the T shirt), The 2 guys are wearing T shirts from one of the local watering holes in Marquette that several of the guys frequent and play softball for.

I get chocked up every time I think of the troops and the service that they provide. It makes me puke everytime I see those idiots protesting at funnerals. What can we as sportsmen do to help them out(the troops serving overseas)? I have piles of magazines and would do anything I could to help. Any suggestions?

Rusty, those are some great pictures, I especially favor the one with the Doghouse Pub t-shirts. I recently just graduated from NMU and frequented that bar a lot...awesome place and I know Dogg personally. It brought back some memories with those guys, I recognize a few of them in the picture...it's a great thing what they are doing and it was really nice to see the pics. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys.

I have piles of magazines and would do anything I could to help. Any suggestions?

We send my brother in law and his group packages about every two weeks. Usually one to him and one to someone else in his company (usually someone who isn't getting packages on a regular basis). We typically include hunting and fishing magazines, candy, phone cards, jerky, stuff like that.. You can get flat rate boxes from the Post Office and it is $8.95 for as much as you can stuff in it. It takes about 6 days for it to get to him (he is in Baghdad).

He says they just like getting things, doen't really matter what.

Do a search in the Sound Off forum FIJI (I think) sends packages over to several locations on a pretty regular basis too.

Had a great long weekend catching up with my Brother In Law. He was glad to be home (even for just 2 weeks). Had some interesting stories and pics. He is much more "involved" this tour vs his last tour in 2004. He is currently on a PSD Team (Personal Security Detachment), that escorts/assists/retrieves people, equipment, troops through areas near Baghdad.

Jackson flew out this morning to return to Iraq. He will be home in July.:coolgleam

Your continued support is appreciated.

Got a call the other night from my brother in law at like 7:30 pm, which is way later than he typically calls or emails. I saw the caller ID and realized it was him calling and carried the phone to my wife and said "Its your brother", she said, "No, it's way to late for him to call".

Turns out he was in Sadr City with his convoy when that ambush took place earlier this week and said it got pretty hairy for a while. He was calling to see if it made the news and to let us know he was ok....

He emailed later this week and asked if "watermelons were in season here yet, because they are in Iraq!"

One day your getting missles shot at you, the next day you are buying fruit from a street vendor....:gaga: God bless everyone over there.

I appreciate all the thoughts and prayers for the guys/gals over there.

Here's some pics.

Erik, I'm glad he got my magazines. Hopefully it'll help him think about Lake Huron a bit while he's staring at sand. Stay safe Jackson!!:)

He can't wait to get home and get to fishing on Lake Superior.

He was supposed to be home around July 4th, but I guess that has been pushed back to the end of the July now....

I've already got a trip up planned for some trout fishing with him on some secret streams......

Jackson thinks he will be home by the end of this month.

He was awarded the Bronze Star two weeks ago. He was pretty excited about that.

Please keep all our soliders in your thoughts and prayers.

Could be because I gave him crap about pics of them sitting around reading magazines all the time......

He said they have a grill out every couple weeks on some down time and the first pics were from that.....

That being said, he was bragging on the phone this morning about getting a flight attendant from his 14 hour flight's email address, so they could "keep in touch"....

I used to "date" a flight attendant years ago. One of the best "daters" I've had!;)
