For those of you guys who live in Hillsdale County, have you heard of the 180+" eight point that was taken somewhere around Sampson rd and St Rt 49? Talk is starting to spread about this deer, so I was wondering if anybody has the story yet.

With FarmLegend as my witness, as I mentioned this to him in a PM earlier this week, I saw what I would have to believe was the same buck this past Sunday evening. In my message to FL I stated that I had seen the biggest baddest 8 point buck to walk the county since the world record 8 point Bulliner Buck. It was less than a mile from the intersection you mentioned.

Maybe it's not the same deer, but the deer I saw was absolutely a jaw dropper. I estimated the inside width at 19-20 inches. The tine length was phenomenal, with G-2's that I estimated to be over a foot long. The main beams were thick, long and sweeping.

When I was driving and spotted this deer standing feeding in a field I layed on the brakes and grabbed the binoculars to give it a really close look. I was able to view him with binoculars at 70 yards for about 20 seconds or so. As I drove the rest of the way home I simply couldn't believe what I had seen. 8 pointers that will make the Boone and Crockett book are very rare, but if this is the same deer, I'd say there's a real possibility that it will score over 170.

November Sunrise, Sounds like and probably is same deer. Too bad I don't hunt that far from there and I am freinds with the guy that owns most of the land bordering Territorila/49/sampson rd but I have not talked to him yet. As you said the rarity of such an animal, it has to be same deer. Wish I had a crack at him but kuddos to the lucky guy to have taken such a buck.

I hear ya. I have a spot in Indiana that was less than a mile from where I saw him, and I definitely had hopes of him coming through there as well. However, I'm genuinely excited for anyone who's able to take such a deer - it's a true privilege to bag one like that.

November Sunrise, sounds like we hunt the same areas. I've hunted on Austin rd for many years but I no longer do. I have shrunk my core hunting area down to a small area, due to disability/mobility issues. I only lease now because of so many years having to deal with &*# *!@#^ if you know what I'm talking about. There are some nice deer in that Tri-state area. I also hunt Coldwater and this year I've drawn an either sex tag for shiawassee, so I'm excited about that.

I've seen this buck twice, both times west of 49, near Territorial and 49. I'd bet good money he's a booner. Last time (about a week ago, in the early afternoon in a harvested soybean field), he was traveling with a tremendous non-typical - no idea what that guy would score, but his body was even larger than the monster 8-pointer. As for the 8, just like the Bulliner buck, this guy has stupendously long main beams.

I don't have any pictures. I heard this through a guy that I'm freinds with who works at DICK's Sporting Goods in Toledo. He is very reputable and would not say something if it was not true. Like I say word is starting to spread. I can't wait to see the pictures as well. If it is as big as what I am hearing you all will hear about it.

How about the 24 pt. that was taken in Jackson County on Wednesday. Co-Worker brought in an article in the Jackson papper a heck of a deer. Not to mention is was taken only a 1/2 mile from my co-workers house (thats gotta hurt).

Here are some sheds I sold last year. They are a main frame 8 that grossed in the mid 160's so I can just imagine what adding over 10+ inches would look like. These sheds had 40" of mass.

I haven't heard the details about this monster that was supposedly taken south of Camden, just west of M-49 this week, but I will certainly find out and post what I find.

Sounds like we are hunting neighbors. I travel west down Austin Rd. to get to our Indiana spot, and our Ohio lease is less than five miles south of Territorial Rd.

5630. Big 8 pt. Down
by FastBreak99 (http://www.mlive.com/forums/profile.ssf?nickname=FastBreak99), 11/3/07 8:36 ET Last night at 5:00 I shot an eight point that green scores 135 2/8. The buck was following a doe and gave me a slight quartering toward shot of 21 yards. The arrow clipped one lung and then went through the liver. It was a fairly long, but easy to follow, track job. The deer never quit running until he hit the ground over 400 yards from where I shot him. He is on the way to the taxidermist this morning.

Here's his picts..

I don't know if that's the buck that was shot, but it's definitely not the one that I was referring to that I saw in that area. This guy's buck doesn't begin to compare to that one. I say that not out of disrespect to this guy's deer, as it's a great deer, but it's simply not comparable to the one that was roaming the aforementioned neighborhood.

A friend of mine hunts a piece of land 2 blocks from where thst deer was shot at. He called me yesterday and told me that some one shot a monster 8 down there by his place. I would love to see some pic's. Im sure it will be on the cover of woods and water next month for sure.
