I've been wide awake since 4am. It's 25 degrees, no wind, you'll be able to hear a squirrel fart a mile away and the sunrise is going to be spectacular.

Perfect morning to be in a treestand.

I still have a couple of doe tags left, but don't want to mess up the area for the wife and daughter. I'd really like to see them whack a nice one gun season.

Thats the sign of a true sportsman!! Congrats on your bucks. I'm sure they appreciate it to. I hope to be in the same boat as you come next week!!

Tomorrow morning will be perfect, with heavy frost due this evening. Sat out last night and watched a goofy spike chasing a button buck around for 45 minutes! Then a doe yearling came and joined in to harrass the spike who was acting like the king of the woods. Still have not seen anything bigger than a 4 pt. Like you I am letting several of these bucks pass and hoping my daughter gets a chance opening day for gun season. When these young bucks are only 15 yards away the release finger gets itchy but there is plenty of hunting to go! One tag will be saved for muzzle loading in the snow.

It's tough when your season is over so soon. Irony at it's finest.

Grab your video or digital cam and hunt 'em that way. I truly believe that when the day comes when I can't pull back a bow or climb a tree, I'll be out there with a camera. Give it a try Tom.

Thunderhead it is also a great morning to be out in the pheasant fields as well so remember that for next fall and get yourself a bird dog this spring. Congrats on 2 spectacular bucks and enjoy the upcoming doe harvest.

I grappled with this issue last night, had a real nice 8 point 17 inch spread 6-7 in tines come within 15 yards last night, and passed because I saw 3 bigger bucks last night also, with only my restriced buck tag left I am hoping to cross paths with one of the bruisers

I know what you mean Thunderhead.

Last year I took a basket racked 8pt the first week of the season and then took a real nice 8pt on the 18th of October. I was done buck hunting before the fun even started!! It was hard to complain but it was a bit of a bummer.

I still had a doe permit so I went out a few weekends during the rut and tried to get some good video footage. I was saving my doe tag so that I could sit out on opening morning so the camera was my weapon for the rest of bow season.

This year I have a small UP 4pt and a UP doe under my belt already so I will be spending the next few weeks looking for a worthy cadidate to fill my restricted tag with. Also have another doe permit as well so I will likely take one more baldy for the freezer if I can't run into a nice buck.

for you,right Tom?

As I see it you've got a couple of options.
You can get out and film for your wife and daughter or you can sit in the house while they hunt and cry in your B&B.

I must be slipping. There is a third option;combine options 1 and 2.:evil:
