Hey everyone-

How do I go about findin' steel in the winter? I hear that deep slow holes are the key. Is this true? Also what flys would you reccommend using for winter steel?

Thanx in advance,

See ya on the river,

Hey MP, are you the only one posting for SW rivers? Sounds to me like you're doing better than most of the guys. Good for you. I've been struggeling this fall. Couple of fish out of the surf and a few out of the river. Nothing worth writing home about.
My best luck in the dead of winter is a deep, gravel- bottomed hole. One of my best artificials is a wiggler pattern with glow bug yarn wingcase. (chartruse, pink, orange)
I'll try to take a j-peg of one and send it to you. I never fished the Dowagiac. How are your launches? Is it possible to put in and motor upstream a couple of miles and fish back?
