spinners or spawn

I've fished the st. joe a few times in the last two years, always used spawn. Never caught a single fish. I've been fishing below the Berrien Springs dam and i was just wondering if anybody knew if I would do better with spoons or spinners instead. I'm coming up in a couple weeks and any help would be appreciated.

Store bought spawn or fresh?
If you were to ask Jim Bedford he'd tell you to use spinners. Personnally I like to drift eggs or waxies or wigglers. I like to use marabou jigs tiped with eggs and waxies also. Drift the jig under a float, works good for me. Can't help but think theres something your not doing quite right if you can't get one with eggs though. Especially this time of year! Keep tryin, nothing beats persistence!
