Ever have one of these?
A bet made with a friend or family member that just continues every year....no matter what?
When I was 10 my uncle Gerry and I started betting quarters on each NFL game. He'd always let me pick first, just a straight up win/lose. He was living in North Chicago, at the time I lived in Anchorage. We always ended up pretty even for the year.
Once I moved to Michigan, the standing bet became the Lions vs Bears series. If either team swept the two regular season games, you owed. It started as just a couple bucks, but by the time Gerry started getting really ill it had grown to $20. He passed away the year sweetness set the rushing record.
This morning I pulled on the pants I was wearing Sunday(washed and folded), and there was $20 in my pocket.
