After class I went to the Joe at Berrien Springs. Fished the run from 6:30 to 10:00 pm. I went 1 for 10 on steelies, and 0 for 2 kings. The one steelie weighed about 10 lbs. and it was a female. With water this low, fish are really hard to find. In order to catch these fish you need to find deep runs and big holes at least 6-8 feet deep when the flood gates are closed. There is a fresh run of winter steelies already up to berrien so I wouldn't be suprised to see some in the Dowagiac by the end of November. Some skamania are still lurking around down here and have more kick in them than ever before. Kings are getting to be nasty, but hopefully a big rain will push in a fresh run of them before the end of the month.

All in all had a good time down there on the Joe.

See ya on the river,

Practice catch and release, or selective harvest to preserve their future,

Hows the crowds over there? Are they starting to thin down some?

The crowds are next to nothin' on the week days but weekends have always been packed full to the gourd! I usually don't fish the weekends much but have noticed some dying down of the crowds. Maybe in a couple of weeks I will have the river to myself!

See ya on the river,

Needs to get downright cold, that'll chase away those fair weather guys! Can you say frozen guides?

Yep, yep! Maybe some enforcement of snaggin' laws will keep the "Tuna Rod Casters" club out of there as well.
