I would say it was the Lions defense who helped win the game today. Great win,,huge win really.

On the road, and against the Bears, man that game made feel feel good. I think I'm starting to the the light of dawn finally. I have been getting the Direct TV football package just so I can see my Lions for the last 4 years now. Games like this make it worth it. Now, I'm watning to see the Broncos put Frave and company away tommorrow night. Les

It will be interesting to see how they stack up against 3-3 Denver next weekend...

I think they will handle Denver just fine, matter of fact, I already have bullets on that game. Les

And short and forced Griese passes helped our defense!!

I thought it was the best game they played this year. Both the offense and defense did a very good job. The major improvement that I noted was how they FINALLY moved their corners up to press receivers in Chicago 3rd down situations and were able to get off the field. The secondary really responded and played very well.
In any case, I pretty much always watch every game. It is NICE to look forward to watching some meaningful games in November!

They have the 5 wins I was optimistic they'd get preseason. I really had my doubts about this game. I have decided I cannot shower until the game is over, seems to have worked 5 times.
Lots of real pluses this time as far as game play. My only real complaint is no TDs in the red. I'd like to see them use RW and CJ's height in the endzone more. Call me crazy, but running TJ behind Jon Bradley would be huge in short yardage situations too. Urlacher did move out of Jon's way when he lead the block in the hole.

I made that exact comment yesterday! The bad news for you is that everyone already knows that I am crazy! :D

Funniest thing about the game? Whenever the Lions were kicking the ball to the Devin Hester they would angle it away from him and the network showed it landing in Lake Michigan! Now that's respect for a punt returner!!!

Call me the pessimist of the bunch--although I am very happy with my life-long fave NFL team right now, but as I watch the Lions I can't help but think they look like a trainwreck waiting to happen on both sides of the ball.

The defense looks great when they're forcing turnovers, but who here thought the Lions had it in the bag in the 4th quarter? No one--didn't think so?

The offense looks an epileptic seizure. They move the ball in chunks, but every play looks like someone yelled, "fire" in a crowded movie theater. Nothing smooth or cohesive about it. Does Mike Martz know that Roy and Calvin are taller than most cornerbacks in the NFL? Perhaps someone should remind him of that and also remind him that the goal is too score touchdowns not FG's. I wanna smash my freakin' TV everytime I see Roy or Calvin come off the field in redzone situations. Remember when Herman Moore was here--remember the money play? Redzone + fade to Moore=touchdown. Is jeff Backus capable of blocking anyone? Because I'm in a good mood today, I have arranged free counseling at www.putdownthecrackpipe.com for anyone who answers "yes" to that question. Backus is a complete waste out there on the field. Jason Hanson could probably do a better job at Left Tackle.

The Lions have won these games--absolutely. They've made their own breaks and they do what they have to do to win. It's clearly a different and better team. However, and maybe I'm just weary from past failures, but I still see enough things that make me think that "getting by" isn't going to make them an elite team anytime soon. Defensively, they're on the right track and they still need a few more players, but as of right now I am NOT impressed with the offense one bit. Can't put my finger on it, but it lacks a killer instinct and it doesn't look like it's improving--either with the play on the field or in the play calling.

I am happy with the record so far, but they need to start putting teams away early. When they get in the redzone, they need to go for the throat and use the talent they have.

I've been on the bandwagon and they are my fave team, but I'm not driking anymore Kool Aid just yet, ya know?

If there is a God, the Lions will beat Denver this Sunday and beat them badly. No other reason than I loathe the Broncos.

There are only 2 teams fans that think their teams are flawless and the Lions aren't one of them. As far as Backus is concerned, and by no means am I a Wolverine Homie. Martz thought he was in pro Bowl form before getting hurt in pre game warm ups against the Eagles. His defender Anderson never touched the QB. So in that respect he played well, not sure which game you watched there 1000 cast.

Man, I miss that song... "see Billy run... you can't catch him with a gun"

If Martz thinks Backus was ever in pro-bowl form he should be fired...as far as this last game..who cares...have you watched any lions football over the last couple yrs? he is terrible..he moves his feet as if they were in coffee cans full of cement. The Lions are doing better than i could ever imagine at 5-2 and for that im happy. As bad as Denver has looked..i cant see the Lions beating them and i cant see them beating green bay even 1 time out of the 2 they have with them. On a positive note...how about K.J. i love it when a running back puts his head down a knocks a guy on his a@# a yard deep in the end zone:evilsmile

They played a good game. Should have punched in 2 more touchdowns though. Green Bay won tonight. Two lucky wins in a row for them and I mean lucky. Watched both games and they should have lost. fumble's and penalties lost the game tonight.

I have watched every game the Lions have played since forever and Backus is an above average right tackle. I am not a Wolverine homie either. If the QB doesn't throw the ball within 4 seconds he is trouble on every team except the Patriots.
