i was just in montcalm county hunting .
and i must have missed the e-mail.
does gun season start on oct. 26?
there was so much shooting going on it sounded like opening day of gun.
i kid you not, no one sights in a gun at 7:20am and then at dusk and it was not just one person shotting is was all around us in the distance.
both days i was there . kind of bumbed me out.
is it just me or have other people hear shooting at prime hunting time.

Violating SOB's? what are you talking about. If they are hunting yotes they were legal.
As for gun shots. From a distance I would like you to prove to me. That you can tell the difference between a rifle and a shotgun. There are many seasons open right now that are legal to use firearms to take game. Waterfowl and small game. But with in small game you have many different species. That is what I love about this state.
If you did not see the people, and all you heard was gun shots. Then all your doing is speculating on what these people were doing at 0730 and again in the evening. Also unless you can see this people you are only hearing gunshots. I don't care who you are or how long you been shooting at a distance of over 100 yards your not going to be able to tell the differince between a shotgun and a rifle. Unless you have a bionic ear, then you would be able to. I say this because when you are in the woods. The sound is bouncing off trees and the ground and everything else.

Rifle shots at dusk, larger than a .22...might be yote hunters with .22 Mags or .17hmr's , they both have "bigger" sounding reports. I think the .17 may sound "biggest" of all of them.

The firearms season for whitetails has not changed. The shots you heard are shotguns.....small game and waterfowl as well as.....possibly......poachers doing their thing with deer.
Getting into a somewhat heated discussion.....always frowned upon here in MS..........is useless.
