Ended up at Big Whitefish this morning with msunolimit. Started out fishing weed edges and water around 10-18 feet deep with cranks, stick baits, spinnerbaits, jigs, and just about everything else in my boat looking for pike or whatever else might be lurking. Didn't get much if any hits. So we decided to try shallow for a while. We immediatly started catching fish. This was our best of the day.

(oh, and what's that sticking out of her mouth.... A Senko??? LOL!!!)

It was a cold and windy morning to say the least. We used the wind as a trolling motor and managed to catch around 20 bass from 10" up to this 19 1/2" fish that went 3lb 10oz on the digital scale. Who says senkos cant' catch good fish!!!!

And you wanna talk about having the lake to yourself?? It was great!! There might be 10 docks still in the water... and maybe a half dozen boats on lifts... and one airplane!

I think you need to get a few more rods in the boat.

10 isn't enough? LOL!!! It's a small boat... anymore and I'd trip and fall in... which almost happens several times every trip out! :D

Today I had 8 on deck and threw 6 of them. Only one caught fish. I told Dave I wasn't going to throw the senko at all today... until he boated two fish on two consecutive casts fishing shallow while I was cranking and spinnerbaiting the dropoff/weed edge.

Fall is a great time for bass and pike. My father and I hit a small inland lake yesterday from 3-6 and we were catching bass on spinnerbaits mostly and I was catching the pike on a topwater walking baits. We were fishing from the shore. I love this time of year. Biggest bass yesterday was 19" about 3lbs. The week before we did better but the bite is still on for a while.

Last weekend on LBDN, the smallies were crankin' around Escanaba. Actually, everybody wanted to play that day. Ended the trip landing 11 smallies, 2 largemouth, 1 walleye, and a jumbo perch. Lost 4or 5 bass, and missed several pike.

Best smallmouth of the day went 20 1/2 inches and had to be pushing 5 pounds! Next best one was just under 20 inches and went 4 pounds, 2 ounces (found the digital scale AFTER releasing the big one!) Mostly caught them casting tube jigs and Great Lakes Goby jigs. Also had a few on a suspending jerkbait.
