I'm getting the optima pro 209 magnum. Wondering what the best set up would be, powder, ammo, scope. etc
Was thinking about the Nikon prostaf 2X7 or Mueller 2-7×32 Multi-Shot or what other scopes are good ones for around 150ish.
Also is there an advantage in using a 2X7 vs a 3X9 or something like when using a muzzleloader
Thanks for any help anyone can give

Powder,777 pellets. Both scopes you mentioned are a good buy at that price. Bullets???shoot at least three or four kinds and see what the barrel likes. Scope power??? I dont think you would see a big difference in the two you mentioned, either will work fine. Maybe the 3x9 if you plan on shooting enough to be accurate out to 150 or 200. Good Luck,

i second the 777 powder pellets! that is a must have...much much less residue, you won't have to spend nearly as much time cleaning.

777 is the way to go for sure i like the powder my self! I used pyrodex it was very diry and smelled bad. after shooting took the gun i the house ( my brothers house) ot clean and the whole house stunk! the barrel had a tar like subsance in it. with 777 just a white ash and little smell plus only half the smoke when fireing!

Are you going with a .50 or .45? I shoot a .50 and love the Hornady 240 GR HP/XTP .44 sabots.... The ballistics with 777 pellets are unbelievable for a muzzle loader. I don't bother with a shotgun for southern hunting, it's my CVA or SW .44

I use the 777 50gr pellets and TC 250gr sabots. Like others have said though each gun likes a different sabot, try several. I went through 5 different kinds of sabots to find mine.

for scope consentrate on more light not higher magnification. distances and target size will tell you little magnification is needed, but extra light in early morning and late evening are truely a blessing.

i am a percussion man but won one of these two years ago. shooting 100 gr. pyro with powerbelt. open sites at 50 yards out of the box, four inch groups. no need for me to go further. nice gun and easy clean. good luck.
