Just started trapping with a couple weeks left in the season last year. Had a few coyotes and fox check me out last year but didn't get one. That is all I thought about for a year. I did a lot of reading and went to the trappers convention to try to learn as much as possible. I guess it paid off. I put out a few dirthole sets a couple days ago and caught my first fox today!!
He was a little male. It looked like he was sleeping when I pulled up on the four wheeler. He was a little muddy it rained last night.

Congrats Hunter! It's an amazing feeling when you see your first fox in a trap you set! To bring in an animal from a very far distance and for it to step in a two to three inch wide pan is extraordinary. Keep us posted.

Yes it was one of the most exciting moments I have had outdoors. Not to sound corny but I have killed black bear, Caribou and Pope and Youg bucks with my bow, but I honestly think this beat them all!! I wish I would have discovered trapping canines 20 years ago!! I caught him in a double dirthole punch set. I had Mark Junes predator bait in one hole and fox frenzy in the other. I trapped a few groundhogs as a kid to keep them out of the garden, but never thought about trapping again until last year. I saw two big coyotes running through my back yard last winter. That is why I decided to take up trapping. I am sure glad I did but now I think I am addicted. Here is the finished product.

Congrats Hunter54!!! :D
You have alot of "firsts" to enjoy as you go forward...first animals, first catch in a certain set, first doubles, etc.
See, now you know why we all like trapping so much!
The next one will come alot quicker, now...you'll see. ;)
