They work great. they save a lot of time cleaning, and are great to keep in your range bag for a quick clean.

how many times can they be used before they are saturated with filth? do you wash them after each use? I have been wondering how they work myself.

Mine are getting to be a couple years old, i havent washed them yet. They seem to last a long time. A lot of the times I run them through dry.

Best thing since instant grits!!!!! Great at the range for a quick bore clean. Gets it pretty clean too. You won't be wasting your money when you buy it and it will last a long, long time.

They are great for a quick clean at the range but I haven't had good luck getting a bore really clean with them. Trying running a lightly oiled cotton patch through the bore after cleaning your rifle with a bore snake (and solvent) and you will see what I mean. I have had the best luck using an Otis cleaning kit for rifles. You can get the patches much tighter than a bore snake and it works on the same principal of pulling the patch through the barrel from the chamber.

i have one for my 30 calibers and 1 for my 12 ga. they are great for a quick cleaning but, nothing beats a real cleaning. i'll use them after duck hunting up north and then a complete cleaning back home same with the deer rifles. i've had mine for 4 years now and haven't washed them yet.

I don't think their meant to take the place of traditional cleaning, but they definately fit the bill for everything inbetween. You still need to properly celan the gun with solvant and oil every once in a while. I wouldn't store a gun without cleaning it properly first.

I never ever clean my gun barrel thoroughly during the season. Too much chance of getting a flyer from a squeaky-clean barrel, and I don't want to take that chance when Mr. Big steps out. Therefore I will run the snake down the barrel dry while sighting in. After that, the barrel stays fouled until the season ends. Sounds crazy, but a dirty barrel will be more accurate than a clean one. At least that has been my experience.

I've carried and used a boresnake for my 7 mag for over 8 years now (the same one) pretty much as a hunting camp bore cleaner. Just pull it through one time at the end of each day while in camp. It has been washed several times since new and is holding together nicely.

When the rifle comes home it gets the real cleaning job and then back in the locker till next time.;)

Nice to carry in the woods as well. Had a buddy that tripped walking out to his blind one opening morning -- accidently "planted" the bore of his rifle into the mud. Only so much you can do with a twig and your t-shirt. I always carry one after he told us what happened.

Also nice at the range for knocking down the crud without doing a full clean.

I'd pick one up.
