My Dad just ordered one of their hang on stands from Cabelas this summer. He had another one that he ordered two years ago and liked it alot. Apparently so did someone else. They stole it off our private property. Good stands though.

If I recall correctly, there was a fire at their shop and they haven't recovered from it. I tried calling and emailing to no avail.

I'm not sure what "sth else" is?

but was going to say I always liked the looks of the chain on stand they made but never got around to buying one. Looks like they aren't available now.

How are their climbers? Are they quiet? It looks like they fold down and I am afraid the pivoting joints would squeak? any thoughts are appreciated.

Personally I think Summit also makes an excellent climber with plenty of options to choose from.

Litchfield Outdoors in northern Hillsdale County is still advertising North Starr stands for sale. Their number (517)542-3663.

I have summit climbers but recently had a broke weld (not holding it against them I use and abuse my stuff) but was thinking it would be nice to have a backup for an important trip...

www.rogerssportinggoods.com has the climbers for $100 which is a steal.

thought I would pass that along.

I have the NorthStarr climber. It packs away nicely and is fairly easy to travel with. I use an extra ratchet strap to secure it together when I'm carrying it (then I use the strap to haul up my bow or gun). It's a very sturdy stand (I'm 6-3 250#) and I feel very safe in it.

The cables that lock around the tree are a little bulky and stiff but they have to be (to hold a lard @$$ like me). The locking clips are solid and so is the fold down seat. It can get a little uncomfortable after a while (for me anyway....it's not that big of seat compared to my "seating area").

I believe Thunderhead used to be on their ProStaff and he always had good things to say about their equipment.

Are the clips noisy though? Do they click if you touch them by mistake? That's what I'm afraid of.

It's never come to my attention so I don't think it's an issue.

The louder noise comes from unloading it and getting the cables around the tree............and of course, climbing.

Guys,

You may want to consider SkyHawk Treestands.
I have been hunting out of one of their bracket mount hang-ons for a couple of years now....none better.

Don't know if they have a website or not.

I have the North Starr Arrow Star. I like the climber, good quality and pretty light for hiking in. Never have had problems with noise. My only complaint, and I would call it a very minor complaint, nothing that would prevent me from buying another, is that the closed cell foam used on these stands have memory and can leave indentations of other stand parts when stored and folded up for travel.

I'd buy another if I were looking to add to my stand collection.
