Anybody ever hunted N. Manitou Island for waterfowl? My cousin goes up and does the primative archery hunt for whitetails, and told me it would be a good place to hunt geese and duck. Anyone have input?

Are you talking Manitoulin island in Ontario??? if so I just got back from there tonight,, I'll have pic's developped tomorrow!! and yes there were lots of geese and all the divers you could handle on the lake, and the beaver ponds were full of teal and mallards!

and if it is this area,, Id be real intrested in talking to your brother about his deer hunting there, especially if he is hunting with an outfitter!!

I hunted there for 4 years - we hunted the last hunt which was a gun hunt - the lake on the island holds some birds but not worth all the effort to get to them (aprox 1 hour hike from the ferry) - the last hunt is in Nov around the 10th.... there are several small bays around the perimater on the island that hold some birds if the big lake blows.... it is a long ride in Nov for what could be a bust hunt..
might be a good place for the opener to get at some locals but that still is a long way across a big lake for a hit-miss hunt..

Dead Bird...thanks for the info. Maybe the island would be a better family hiking outing rather than a goose hunt. Thanks again.
