Anyone fished Holloway reservior in genesee county for smallies. I heard there were some good size smallies there. Any info on the lake would be great.

The lake holds both LM and SM. It was one of the origonal lakes tested for early C&R season, and the bass fishing just plain hasn't been all that great since all that started.

My biggest smallie of my life came out of Holloway while trolling Hot n Tots for walleye right near shore off the boat launch. I fish Holloway alot and I have caught a ton of smallies but no largemouth to speak of. I have caught big largemouth on Mott Lake while trolling, I think both are great bass spots and Holloway has a bass tourney every spring and the weights for 5 fish are always around 18-20 lbs. Oh the big one I caught was a 6 pounder and 23 inches in length. I don't target them so someone else might be able to help you better than me. But if I am catching them trolling for walleye, I am sure someone can put you on them in a hurry if they are willing to share. Good Luck!

I have to admit that come August I need to get my line stretched at the "H" and the eyes don't come easily so this year I had to turn to the darkside more-so than any other year. I didn't think it was all that great for bass either then I found a rockpile and caught 30 bass in 3 days with at least 5 of them being 17+ smallies, one was 18.5'' and I have a pic...I was fairly astounded at the quality. One day on that pile we pulled 4 largies in a row. So yeah I'd say its worth a shot, it kills the time anyway :)

best advice I can offer is study photos of when the lake is drawn down, study the surrounding topogrophy, look at satellite shots, you'd be suprised what you can glean.

I must be spoiled by LSC. 30 smallies is an afternoon, not three days. :)

Seriously, in the 70's and 80's I had very good results on Halloway. The past few years it seems to like any other inland fishery.
