Talked to a couple of fellow River Rats last night while we were having a couple of Beers. Appears there is a rumor floating around that someone caught a 51" Sturgeon in the channel between Celeron Island and Ford Yacht Club. Has anyone heard the same?

I talked with a local CO and heard that they were prosecuting a fisherman for a Sturgeon undersize and out of season.
I don't even know what the rules are for them so I'd let them all go.

Trout,

This individual did release the fish after taking a couple of pictures of it. I think DNR had a couple of complaints from fisherman on the Upper Stretch (Near Fighting Island) of the Detroit River. Appeared that he had caught and kept a Sturgeon.
Think the complaint finally ended up in an arrest to.

Did ya know that the sturgeon is the only plant, animal, bird etc..that is listed as threatened by the state of MI AND has a season on them. I am not aware of any other creature that is listed on the Michigan endangered/threatened species list that one can actually harvest....thinking out loud...andy
