Had a good day on the Joe, sunday. Two females and one male. The male and one of the females were winter holdovers, while the other female was nice and fresh. We slept in and didn't get to the river till 12:30. But we still had the place to ourselves, wish it was always that easy. Lots of ice and snow, the whole lower river is froze over. Hopefully that is going to change soon!
Oh, wax worms were the ticket. Didn't have a single taker on eggs or wobble glos.
Good fishing everybody!

Good catch! Keep em coming!

where on the river were you? Boat or bank. I've never fished this deep into winter with the ice and snow.

My boat is parked in my dads barn right now, so we did the bank. I could tell you where, but we all know what I would have to do after that :)
Boats are making it out though. They usaully keep the ramp at shamrock open. It cost like 5$ to use it. Problem is, the water from the dam is poorly controled! It goes from way up to way down in just a few hours. So if you go you may be able to get a boat up to the dam area, or maybe not.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean exactly where on the river. What I was after is a general area. But that's cool. Definately don't reveal your spot. I probably won't get out much before spring, so go get em for me!

Oh, and thanks for the info on the bottomline!

I talked with a couple of guys yesterday at lunch on the pier. They said some guys were catching COHO!!! in the morning. Coho, I can't believe it! Isn't it too early (and cold) for the coho to be around the pierheads? THe water temp is around 40 degrees in the river.

By the way, the rest of their catch consisted of whitefish.

Yep it's early, but now I have witnessed it with my own eyes! Yesterday at noon I walked out on the pier and saw two guys, one on the south pier and one on the north pier, land nice coho. I'd say they maybe went 5-8lbs each. If this keeps up, I better get my boat ready soon!!

Fished the Joe on Friday 3/3/00. Weather was great, fishing was slow. Between three of us we took 4 steelies. One was a spawned out female already. Caught two on spawn and the other two trolling. We lost four other fish, one big male at the boat.We had fish rolling around us all day just couldn't get to bite.

Limit catchs on Coho and Browns from the piers near New Buffalo. Steelhead have slowed a little but still catching some.
