This was unreal.Daughter woke us up at 4 am like our house was on fire. She said dad get up now hurry.I jumped and grabbed my gun on the spot.I follow her fast as i could to front window.4 Bucks standing in front of my house :yikes:.One was 12 to 14 points huge rack. Two 8 points, and one 6 point.I told wife to open window and plug her ears .That did not go over well with her to well that early in the morning :bash:.She took my gun put it away and went back to bed.We watched them for a good 10 mins. All the time we watched them we did not think of getting a shot of them.Would have been a cool picture to see ,Mich

It's always sweet when you get them in your own yard. Has to be special though because it was your daughter who spotted them first.

I'm glad your wife is an ethical sports person.
Just to let you know -
1. it is not gun season
2. shooting a deer from a house is against the rules
3. 4:00 am is not within legal shooting hours
I'm glad it turned out the way it did and you got a chance to lay your eyes on some beautiful animals.

I think you can shoot from your window as long as you give yourself permission and are the legal distance from other safty zones:evil:

Ya i know about the rules.Wifes rules are much harder then the DNR anyday :).I would not ever poach a buck ever.Even though i know that big guy will be poached from someone around here.Sucks but just how it is around here.I really dont mine myself if folks need food and nail a doe.Just me.But leave the Bucks for the real hunters is my Golden Rule,Mich

well, I thought you were joking but with so many people poaching here in S MI you never know. Every year I hear of stuff like this that really happens. I often wonder how many bucks are in the books that were shined. I bet allot of them. There is just not enough DNR officers to cover the area.
An old supervisor at my work would put bait under his mercury light outside his second story bedroom window. He kept his bow close to the window and would shoot deer(bucks) at night. And to think he calls himself a bow hunter.
Any way, were you really joking about the big bucks being in your yard? If not you know you have some nice deer to hunt when the sun comes up. Good luck.

Good luck.I here ya.Guy down the road i know has a white plywood board out for night shooting. His wall is covered by huge bucks.yr before last he got a 12 point a 10 point that was bigger than the 12 and a 8 point. He was bragging on them and after a few beers i told him what i thought of his deer.Even the locals was pissed at him for taking 3 bucks.Last yr he took an 8 and a 6 point at night.Him and his wife are some realy nice folks. But i cant get myself to go back over there just for that reason.Make my blood boil,Mich
However, if it were me, rather than shoot them with a gun and wake the neighbors, I would've used an Aztec Indian blow gun a shot the biggest one with a poison dart and then poured gas on it and set it afire. That way, you can tell the DNR that it must've been hit by lightning or something. The meat would probably still be good or at least, semi-cooked.
:yikes:
As for shooting from the house, my neighbor called the DNR on his neighbor, whom he doesn't care for, last year. He actually saw the guy shoot from the window of his attic. The DNR told him to calm down and get a grip. Since the elevated treestand rule went into affect the guy was breaking no laws. Can this be fact? I'd like to know so I don't call on the guy myself.

Pretty sure you have to be 300 yrds or there about to hunt from others homes. And you cant hunt in most City and Village limits.Mich

as long as your not breaking the safety zone law you can hunt from your house.

this is from the DNR web-site, someone asked if they could shoot a deer from the window of their house.
Providing a person is properly license and in compliance with all other hunting regulations, a person can shoot a deer out of the window of their house. With the recent change allowing firearm deer hunters to use an elevated stand, it would also be legal to use a 2nd or third story window.

really? I thought you had to be a certain distance from a dwelling. I still think that is cheating.
