I just picked up a couple of 10 pound international orange rubber coated downrigger weights from Cabela's. I like these weights and they are going to be visible for quite a distance. Do you like to hide your weights or use them to attract fish? In the past I have only ran raw lead circle weights for the past 30 years and to be honest I always seem to catch more fish than guys I know. Do any of you run prism tape on your downrigger weights and if so, do you find any particular colors or patterns of applying the tape to help attract fish?

Orange will not be visible from afar since it is the 2nd color to turn black. The Silhouette will be what the fish see, but that is with any color. If you want the "color" to hold in depths, you need to use Flouresents. A ball that is normally red will turn to black oce it reaches a depth that cannot be penetrated by "red" of the light prizim. Once flouresent red passes that same depth, it will combine other colors of the spectrum to continue to have color. It will more than likely be a color other than red, but it will be red.

That being said, I run Black, Red or Orange since they all are basically black after so far down. It's not the color I look to use as an advantage as the turbulance that ball itself create.
