A good buddy took me out for a few hours last night to troll up some walleye before the front rolled through. We waited out the storm and fished 9-11pm before the westerly gale hit. I whacked a nice 21" eye right away, and then we went 6 for 12 or so on salmon. Clown rogue long lined and trolled slow along the 10-15' break line. Fish were jumping all over and were very active. Most of the fish jumped several times, and a few cartwheeled all over and were lost. Also picked up a 13" crappie before we got blown out. Fish were pretty dark, but mostly in good shape. Thanks for the trip Tim, it was just what I needed brother.

Thinking of heading up there for on last King fling, wife is yet to catch one! Would it be worth the 4 hour drive? What area and baits would you recommend?

Were my favorite pods of snaggers out there by the cobb plant or has all the calls to RAP finally got a few of them pinched?:lol:

I'm pretty sure Tim's main objective wasn't to seek out the snaggers IN THE DARK - but to enjoy a well deserved evening of relaxation with a good friend and to catch some fish....
Please see your own sig. for clarification
everything else falls into the category of....
LOL!
You're welcome to 'police' BC Cobb in your spare time though , Hutch....

I've pretty much had to since I've been fishing down there quite a bit. I can't recall one trip where I haven't had to break out the cell phone due to the ripping going on out there. Pretty sad--especially when it's been boats that have the downriggers and the whole nine yards. They pull up off the mouths, drop anchor and start ripping the bare hooks through the water. Not cool, ya know?

No, we never saw another boat or soul all night. We fished the other side of the lake and found the salmon schooled up real shallow in a deep pocket along the south shoreline. Kind of a small bay, fish jumping all over it after dark. Almost seems like they were spawning in there? Water temp was 68 degrees. We trolled with the electric around 1 mph, rod in hand, pumping the baits along in 12 fow. What a riot when they slammed the lure. Best bait for us was the clown rattling rogue, a shallow runner. I had to replace 3 hooks and a split ring on mine. What a riot on my 6 1/2 foot walleye rod and spinning reel, my drag forgot to thank me.
With the cold temps I'm not sure if I would make the 4 hour drive or not, thats up to you. We released them all, but if we could have stayed longer I bet we would have continued to catch them. With the cold and rain they may move quick, they have been waiting some time. A pier may be a closer option if the lake flips and the rain brings in some fresh fish.
