I know the season's young...but it looks like the old lions are back! No scoring...yet offensive! Defense is a sponge.
Still got them going over .500?
If they have 6 wins total, I'll be surprised!

There are currently 16 teams in the NFL with worse records than the Lions and only 6 with better records. As ugly as a couple of the games have been they're still batting .600 this year. They are 2-0 in the division, Green Bay is 1-1. Lions have a good chance to beat Tampa Bay after the Bye week and advance to 4-2. We'll see how Green Bay does Vs. the Redskins next week in DC. I'm sticking with the 6-10 record, for the Lions, that I predicted before the season started. Just be glad that your not from New Orleans.

And down there they say the same thing about Detroit.

There's no way the Lions beat Tampa. Here's what they're up against for starters:
1) A former Lions QB in Garcia--think he won't want to light it up against them? And he will.
2) Marinelli and Joe Barry's former team. Ever seen a Lions coach, player or hot dog vendor for that matter light it up against a former team? Neither have I.
To be on the safe side, figure Tampa 41, Lions 10 in that game. Calvin Johnson will still only get one catch and be on the sideline most of the game--which if that's the case, the entire coaching staff should be fired for that.
Look for the Tampa game to be the pivotal game this year. Few reasons.
1) Bye week for loins. See if M&M can find a running game and Defence
2) After the wupping that the 'Skins put on them..see how they respond.
3) Tampa has a pretty solid team so far and a good D.
4) Week off should help Kitna heal from the beatings he's getting
Knowing the loins, i'd guess they get the crap beat out of them again.....
But then knowing the loins.... It would figure that they win vs Tampa and
lose vs the bottom feeders

CJ was still hurt against the Skins along with KJ, Those 2 will be needed later if the Lions are going to be competitive. I think thast is the main reason they had limited play.

Tampa is missing both their starting RB and their back-up RB so the 3rd string guy will get the call, assuming he doesn't get hurt against the Titans. This will force Garcia to throw often. If Rogers has a good day and he usually does when playing at Ford Field, Garcia can easily get rattled if he feels some pressure. When Garcia starts to throw erratically it will create some opportunities for turn-overs. The Bye will give the Lions a chance to get healthy. I want to see how Tampa does against Tennessee but as of right now it's looking like the Lions should have the edge.

The Lions are right where I predicted they would be right now; 3:2. However, I had the Chicago and the Washington game flipped. For the record; in the next three games I have them beating Tampa, and losing to Chicago and Denver. For the season, I will stick with my 8:8 prediction.
I mean, the offensive line can't be THAT "offensive" all year... can they?

Oh yes, yes they can. There are already rumors circulating that the coaches are starting to b***h at each other. Martz can't call plays, Barry can't defend the run...etc.
Not good for the locker room!
I see a six game slide coming.

As much as I like Martz's aggressiveness, he needs to go. I don't mind a pass first offense, but damn...do something to adjust for cripes sake. I mean, he has no answer for blitzes or heavy pressure and he should be fired simply for the fact that Calvin Johnson is being neglected woefully.
I thought that'd be a great hire bringing Martz in, but dude has not adjusted to anything on the fly. At some point you've got to address your weak points in any given game. Instead of doing something to keep the defenses honest and force them to back off the line of scrimmage, it's 7 step drops and long patterns instead of quick slants, draws and screens on a 3 step drop. As long as he doesn't adjust, the defenses will keep bringing the house on every down.

Bringing the house?????????????????? That may be what it seems like but is hardly the truth. From what i watched of the game and from what ive read and heard in interviews Washington blitzed a handful of times sunday...if that. In fact i heard Raiola claim they didnt blitz one single time. All that pressure from their front 4 :dizzy::dizzy: What ive seen is a bad mix. A team that cant block, cant run, could pass but cant anymore because there are 7 men in coverage, in the end i see a new record of sacks in a season and a few quarterbacks beaten and bruised.

Right. Against the Lions O line, four guys is bringing the house. They can just pin their ears back and go right in for the sacks since A) the Lions have no running game, and B) Martz doesn't adjust to slow them down some.
Hell, turn my four-year-old boys loose against Backus, Riaola and the rest and they'd probably set a single game record for sacks.

This team is not that good. The O-line (how many freakin years have we been saying this) is absolutely god awful. Atrocious awful. This team is a fraud through the first 5 games. They beat (and looked like they would lose) a hurt, awful and rebuilding Raiders team. A Minny (and should have lost by a late FG) team with Tarvaris (who?) Jackson at QB. And a severely hurt and depleted Bears team who also, just made a QB switch. This Lions team has all the makings of a 4 to 6 game losing slide written all over it. Buh-Bye Roy and KJ. Enjoy your last season as Lions!:rant:

Just to re-word an old joke. God was asked to build two bridges to Hawaii. He said it was to huge of an undertaking, ask for something else. Make the Lions a winner then. God replied, " how many lanes you want on those bridges?"
