I am heading up to Oscoda Thursday-Sunday. 4th annual camping trip for a friends birthday. Wondering what the word was, if any? We are staying at Old Orchard, so I always hit the Foote Dam Impoundment - but was planning on trolling Lake Huron at the mouth of the AuSable Friday before our wifes get there (they don't like the big water). I know typically this is late to be catching them at the mouth, but I figure the warm weather and lack of rain may be keeping the fish from entering the river.

Would we be better suited to run out to the deeper water and try for 3 year olds?

I was on the south pier this past Sat night from about 9 p.m. to about 1 a.m. and it was pretty slow. There was about 20+ fisherman and only one walleye caught, no salmon, even on the north pier. With the colder temps and rains coming later this week, hopefully the fish will start moving into the river in greater numbers. Good Luck.

We are going to be doing a slow troll up there Saturday night and Sunday morning too. Hope this cooler weather helps.

This past weekend, while I was out fishing skein on the north pier Friday afternoon, there were kings crashing bait heavy just out of casting range. They were exploding EVERYWHERE out there, there were alot of fish coming up. I'd say give it a try, you might tag a brownie as well, it's about that time of year for them to start poking around there.
