Well I fished the clinton this morning, by Yates. I think everyone in oakland county that owned a fishing pole was out there hoping to land some steel. I didnt see any out there, maybe it is too early, or maybe it is me. Let me know if anyone has caught anything out there.
"FISH ON, COMIN DOWN"
I went down by the mouth yesterday after work. got upstream of that *&^%$%$##@ dredging and tossed out a line with spawn bag on it. Wasn't 15 minutes and something BIG picked it up. Set the hook and it just casually lumbers off with about 100yds of 10# Fireline going upsteam. It turned around and went about 75 yds. downstream. Im leaning on this thing with a 9'med-hvy Loomis, and it just ignores me. No headshakes or anything, I'm just hooked into a locomitive. Finally after about 5 minutes the line gets hung up in a big wad of brush coming downstream. POP! I dont have a clue what it was, but from the fight I would say it was probably a big cat or a cold Freshwater Bonefish (Carp). Never know though, so as I went to sleep last night it was a 35# King!

I finally got back out with my flyrod on the Clinton (below Yates) this afternoon. Even though I was skunked, it was great to get out, and I had the river to myself. :)
I am no petunia, but with the wind and all it was darned cold. My line kept getting crusted with ice. I split when my fingers got too numb to tie a fly on. It was fun getting back out there though.
