Gogebic holds walleyes, if you look
BERGLAND -- So much for local knowledge.
Some anglers who live around Lake Gogebic assured us that it's "The Dead Sea," as it says on coffee mugs sold in some area stores. Not only are there few walleyes, the locals said, those that are left are short and underfed.
Which made it hard to understand why, for three days in a row, three anglers were able to catch 30-40 walleyes, most over 15 inches, in a couple of hours from the biggest inland lake in the Upper Peninsula.
