decided at last minute to fish, launched just before midnight i think, on the way out seen a boat with a bent up front end, asked what happened they said hit a bouy, talked to ryan on the phone, said it was canucks. hope insureance pays for it.
looked like an escort after rear ending a semi . anyways, limited by 2:30 am, fish really picked up at about 2am, played catch and release till 3am. only one deep, most came in the hills below green can on american side that goes from 20-30-20-30, most on the inside with a few in 10 fow. mix of colors, few on vampire, and the rest on various custom cromes and one on a bleeding copper flash, all #7's rapala's.(pics after i wake up)
on the way in, boarder patrol flagged us down and pulled us over in black river, he said he watch us come down river on canadian side and asked for my form, i said i did not anchor or touch canadian soil and he said does not matter, once i go across the line i have to call to report that i was coming back across, and that i need a form for my vessel and register with boarder patrol, he said he could give me a ticket for $500 just for driving in canadian water and re-entering american waters. so i guess i have to call and find out if that is true and to get a form for my vessel.

just great one more thing to worry about....after umpteen thousands of boaters cut the corner coming down the river all season, now that there are only one or two boats out there, lets rake em over the coals.

This should have your answer. If I read this correctly, you were in the right, he was wrong.

Yes, that was us Tim. We hit an unmarked-unlight bouy at 25 mph it stopped us dead in our tracks. Dave's boat is toast. We'll see what insurance does. We're lucky we're alive to say the least. Anyway, be careful out there guys and gals. Dave has over 30 years boating experience and is a non-drinker, so it had nothing to do with alcohol if anyone is thinking that. You just neverknow what can happen in places you aren't familiar with. Thanks for following us back to the launch RJT to assure we made it there safe. You are a great friend buddy!

only need th I 68 form if anchored in canadian waters, touch shore, or touch a canadian boat, just going over the line is not considered leaving the country.
thanks mike for the link.

That boat was sure a mess! Whole front end caved in. :yikes:
I wanted to make sure you two got in safe. Hearing that you hit a bouy is scary, you never know what could happen out there. Second boat this year you retired, talk about bad luck. Glad everyone was alright.

Thanks! It's in Canadian waters between the bay across from the Black River and where you start to enter the river from that bay. Not familar with that area at all and it was pitch black, so be careful out there. Talked to Mushy1 and he said he saw the same marker on his way down to meet us at dusk.
