Unseasonably warm weather has kept fish more in their late summer patterns more than anything else. Surface temps were running around 65 degrees yesterday. Fishing is a little tough on Burt right now. I think the fish are in a bit of a funk now due to the light cycle and water temp variation. There isn't much happening yet for perch. I'm unable to discuss much regarding walleye as I have a tournament there this Saturday. The Northern Lakes Walleye Club will be weighing in at Maple Bay starting about 3:00. Feel free to stop by and check out the weigh in. With this being the last tournament of the season, many of the guys will be much more willing to share info, and you could learn a lot about Burt by talking with them.

The fishing should improve as the water temps drop in the weeks to come. Unfortunately, that probably won't happen by this weekend.

Good luck and have a fun and safe vacation.

I'll be up this Saturday thru Tuesday, but I think we were going to try that lake across the street from Conway.:)

I also want to give that newly worked on bike path a try through Wolverine. I think if I head south from there I'd have to carry the oldlady back to the truck due to the hills, so I think It's going to be a Wolverine to Indian River pedal.

I am taking my wife to Indian River this weekend for a short stay. We will be at The Landings. Probably just cruise around a bit but i will have my fishing gear along just in case.

If you see a Tan/Black Crestliner I/O with a Merc kicker be sure to stop and say hello.

I may try to make that weigh in if I can figure out where it is, as I am not too familiar with the area can probably find it.

I ended up bringing the boat and had a good time too. Was the first time i fished this lake, got out there at 11 am a real early riser:lol: we were drifting inflated crawlers, Hadnt been fishing for two minutes and my buddy caught a 20 inch brown, things slowed for a while then he got a 22 inch rainbow. l ended up with 3 perch around 10 inches.

Saturday got out a daybreak, the rainbows were jumping good by the mouth of the sturgeon. i coudnt catch them but did have a nice pike to the edge of the boat, caught a couple more perch. Guys were getting a few walleyes just before dark jigging minnows.

was a good time i guess i will be bringing the boat next year! Tom:fish:

excellelent!

we did fish Mullet Sat midday and did find some nice perch. I just motored out and looked for marks and found some decent ones at red pine point in about 35 fow.

We got mostly small ones but did get enough 10+ inchers for a nice dinner, wife even got a few doubleheaders which was fun.

To follow up from last weeks reports, I had the opportunity to get out a couple times last week, and found fish in about the same places we normally would in mid-August. Water temps were still in the mid to high 60's, a good 12 to 15 degrees warmer than we were a year ago at this time. Perch were staging in their fall patterns, but very few walleye, or at least bigger walleye, were to be found. At our weigh-in last weekend (http://www.northernlakeswalleyeclub.com/), 19 boats weighed 25 fish, but several guys said they caught 10 to 20 undersized fish. It leads me to believe that the bigger fish are to follow the smaller ones and soon. The weather has turned colder, I suspect this weekend could be a awesome bite. Keep the reports coming. Tight Lines
