View Full Version : End of the season Sturgeon
Sturge

Happened to get a chance to go out with Big Bob on Thursday last week. We got out around 8:00pm and Bob hooked up with a fish around 8:15. After a nice fight we got it to the boat and it was a 44" fish. Later in the evening Rock another Algonac icon hooked up with a big fish that bolted and broke his fireline. Around 10:00 I hooked up with a nice fish brought it in and it was in the 54" range.
No fish jumping and one of the nicest weather nights you could ask for. We were high in the river so I don't have a clue what the lower end was doing. In the past the lower end produced larger and more action as the water got colder. Has anyone been after them this weekend? I will be heading to Canada to continue Sturgeon fishing. Until next year!

I plan to try the Canadian side on Thursday. It will be my first time so not 100 per cent on where I will start. The fawn island area doesnt look too bad by the water depths.

We were out Saturday and Sunday. Saturday we were 4/5 with a 30", 51", 55" and 61". Sunday we were 1/2 with a 50".
I hoped that we would have more action on Sunday but for some reason it was a lot slower than the previous night.
It was a fun sturgeon season, but time to catch up on some of the sleep I've missed out on over the last month!

Tom, Gary Towns (fisheries biologist) requested a 2 month extention for next year. We'll see if it comes about.

My wife and I have Canadian Licenses and I would like to get a sturgeon hooked on the other end of her rod. Any advice on places to hit? As always advice will be kept to just my wife and I ;)

Didn't get the chance this year, so next year I'll try for my first sturgeon!
Anyone hear from IFN lately? I want to know how he's doing.
