This doesn't make sense if she not allowed to take money from our Fishing and Hunting funds, where's the money gone to? We should not be effected when we bring money to the state!!

You only have some of the facts here. Can't make a determination without all the income and expenses.

Where is the reference to the stuff you quoted? That is, where is the web site you copied it from.

You need to look at the big picture. Only a small percentage of the money mentioned in the "Economic Impact" you quoted actually goes to the DNR or even directly into the state's budget.

Contributing to the economy means money spent on gas, on lures, on ammo, on renting a room at a motel, stopping at the burger place for lunch. It even includes taking the wife along and the money she spends on food, lodging, her side trips.

These numbers probably even include repairs to boats, trailers and equipment since it is money spent and going into the local economy.

Alex-v this is from the Michigan DNR page... Walleye Mike, your right this doesn't include expense's, but common sense would tell you it's the Department that makes alot more money than anything else, right? We can't have a billion dollars in expense's can we?

But, the monies mentioned are money that goes into the local economy. That is money spent at the gas station, the party store, the lumber yard (to build blinds), at the auto parts store to repair something, and the list goes on. It is money that was spent as part of going fishing, hunting, boating, snowmobiling, or as a tourist.

Only a very small amount of this money goes directly to the DNR. But, it is money that is important to the people who live in this state. There are part time jobs that actually exist just because people spend the summer on the lakes, jobs that exist because people go hunting. The money they spend goes into the economy.

The DNR is not saying that they collect this money. They are just saying how important fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, boating, etc. is to the entire state's well being.

I understand that, so wouldn't the government what to help keep this activities going for the State to benefit from.. Still alot of money coming in just from license fees? That's why I posted that info, I can tell you I went out ice fishing and Walleye fishing from Spring to Summer and only seen an attendant once? I bought a year pass so it doesn't really hurt me, but what about all the people that buy daily's? No one was there to bring in more money for the state?

Bottom line...we need to increase license fees and I agree with the double. I'll have more in truck and boat gas for a day trip to St. Clair next week than the proposed and scrapped $58 all species license. I spent $22 at Gander on Sat. just for nothing terminal tackle. $58 for an annual all species is cheeeapppp people. Granted on St. Clair you need multiple licenses but still, what a fishery...you get what you pay for and you have to pay to play.

Do a little more research, my friend.
Even if they shut 'em down for a week, they aren't gonna lose much money.
