Do seem to be more resilient then years past..their 4th quarters remind of Todd Jones 9th innings.

Man was that ugly! Thank God the Bears suck worse than the Lions. We did just about everything we could do to lose that one. Thought the Refs were going to hand it to the Bears with all of those reviews, they made some really bad calls today. But a win is a win, I guess.

The rest of the season could get really ugly for the bears. their next three games are the packers, the eagles, the Vikings and then the Lions again in four weeks. I'm guessing they are going to be 2 & 5 the next time we play them.

I was at the game today with some customers and it amazes me that they pack the place every game. There were a ton of Bears fans there and they were very vocal. Saw three seperate fights in the stands. Boring first half, but picked up in the second.

Imagine what the town would do if they ever produced a winner.

I'm guessing it will be next week with the Redskins. Usually about the fourth or fifth week they fall all to h@((. I thought it would be after the pounding they received last week.

I figure they may have 1 or 2 more in them for the season. As a skeptical fan, I hope they prove me wrong.

Yeah,,,, don't put that stick away yet. And I wouldn't read anything into this win,, other than the Bears D is bad and banged up and they have three 3rd string QB's.

I have very mixed emotions about this Lions squad. A big part of me is thinking my 5-11 mark is pretty much it.
But the 25 year fan in me really hopes we break out.
There have been flashes of brilliance in all aspects of the game, even Marinelli finally got a challenge right.
There have also been flashes of the Lions team from the past...56-21 against an ailing Philly is the best example.
I just know if I throw my chips into the pot they are going to break my heart.

The Lions victory was not impressive being down 13-3 going into the 4th quarter. However the difference this year is their confidence to come back and this will make a difference down the stretch.
Rather be suprised by a good Lions season then let down like Charger fans.

yes I have been impressed by the lions refusal to quit even when it looks like same ole lions, but they are still a long way off from being a real competetive team.Keep in mind that Chicago was very banged up and still almost won the game. The true sign that this team is improving will be 3 things.(1) win big games on the road (something they havnt done in awhile) (2) win their divisional games ( they're off to a good start in that) and (3) play a complete game, not just 4th quarter heroics play a good game for 4 quarters. I have seen improvement in the Lions but they still arent there yet and I still believe they are a few players shy of getting there, but so far its been good

Who is the special teams coach, and why is he still employed today? 2 blocked kicks and 300+ return yards from Hester? Did the NFL pass a new rule REQUIRING teams to continue to kick directly to the return man?

So long as we're on special teams, why did we cut Drummond? Do the coaches prefer Calhoun's style of catching the ball and running directly into the very first defender downfield? Is he even aware you can make "a move"?

That'd be Chuck Preifer. His record is the one bright spot for the Lions since '97
I had thought this year that teams would just kick away, squib, or rugby kick to Hester. In fact I thought his production would fall off drastically like every other lightning in a bottle returner.
It hasn't happened yet, and it could be one of two things:
1) Teams just can't believe that one player can be that good, so machismo says kick away.
2)It's a league conspiracy to keep the game exciting.
KISS....

Actually Stan Kwan is the special team's coach, Preifer's former assistant. Preifer "retired" last year.

"Well the Packers will have to get by the Lions first.........."
"The Lions have a real good shot at being division champs."

UH, OK. I am enjoying the ride, but keep that stuff you are smoking at home tomorrow.

As a lifelong fan and former season ticket holder, I could care less how the games have looked thus far. The only thing that matters is the record: 3-1, which is a helluva lot better than 1-3 or 0-4. Sure, I did my share of cussing yesterday, but all that matters is the end result. Different team, different attitude? I believe so, but we'll see at the end of the year. Right now, I'm just enjoying being a Lions fan since the record isn't its usual embarrassment. When your team is winning games, sports is just that much more fun.

You can put this on my gravestone: "I was a Lions fan BEFORE they drafted Barry Sanders and I was STILL a Lions fan after Millen destroyed them."

Marinelli doesn't like the idea of having a roster spot reserved for one player who can only return kicks. He'd rather keep that spot open for someone who can be used elsewhere ala Walters as a reciever or Calhoun as a running back. Drummond was worthless as a reciever in the offense, so he was expendable. Now, if they had an explosive return man such as Hester it'd be a different story, however Drummond wasn't anywhere near that type of player--not even close. Doesn't make sense to keep him on the roster when he's over paid and under achieving.

They will have their hands full this week. Wash can cover receivers and can control the clock with the running game. This could be a very boring win for the Redskins this weekend. Washington 17 Lions 14.

Here's a bullet for ya. The Martz offense is typically less effective on grass, that goes back to the Rams days as well. History does repeat itself more often than not in the NFL, especially with pass happy offenses. Here's another not too overly obvious fact, the Lions are 31st in run offense.

The last time the Rams played against the Skins with the Martz offense was a 20-17 loss in 2002. That was at Washington. You want some more???

The Foreskins aren't s***. If the Lions lose this one, they'll be kicking themselves over a lost opportunity later on down the road.

By the way, go back and read some of my posts--I was the guy saying that the Philly game is one where struggling teams get better real quick as soon as the Lions' plane lands. And I was right!

Washington is not Philly. Washington is going to lose this game and I'm so confident about it that I'm willing to bet Mel's right testicle that the Lions win. If they lose, then feel free to send Mel where ever you wish to get it chopped off--I don't know him, so no sweat off my... :yikes:

Yards per kickoff return;

Brian Calhoun - 22.1
Eddie Drummond - 21.5

Yards per punt return:

Troy Walters - 10.0
Eddie Drummond - 8.4

Skins defense is among the best in the league and that spells bad news for the Lions.
